Traditional Tet in the minds of people far from home

Every time Tet comes, Spring comes, everyone longs to return to their homeland, reunite with their families. And in the minds of Vietnamese people all over the world , Tet is always a special occasion for them to turn to their roots, to preserve the traditional cultural activities of their homeland.

This year is the first year that Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhat Huyen, in Thach Ha ward, Ha Tinh city, celebrates Tet in Taipei city, Taiwan, where she is studying and living. Here, the Lunar New Year is also celebrated like Vietnam. However, the atmosphere and customs here are not the same as Vietnamese Tet. Therefore, she and her friends decorate the house, prepare a Vietnamese meal with traditional dishes to reminisce about the joys and sorrows of the past year.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhat Huyen personally prepares traditional dishes from her hometown to make the Tet meal more meaningful.

Many people cannot return home for Tet due to circumstances. However, in foreign lands, everyone still finds ways to celebrate Tet warmly and completely like at home. They spend time preparing traditional dishes such as banh chung, boiled chicken, jam, ham, etc. or maintain the custom of giving lucky money at the beginning of the year. It can be seen that Tet of those living far away from home is still imbued with the flavor and atmosphere of their homeland.

Far from home, many people wish to eat meals with many traditional dishes full of the flavor of their homeland.

Tet is coming, many people living far away from home miss another year of reunion with their loved ones. But in their minds, Tet is still something sacred and irreplaceable. Therefore, preserving the beauty of Tet in a foreign land is also an opportunity to introduce to international friends the traditions of Vietnamese culture.
