Perspective of the relic being repaired and upgraded. |
Here, on December 25, 1951, President Ho Chi Minh officially announced the Decree establishing the Department of Transport, an important event marking the development of the Transport industry, contributing to ensuring logistics work to serve the resistance war against French colonialism, including the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
According to historical records, immediately after its establishment, the Department of Transport organized a professional transport network, combining motorised and primitive transport, road and waterway. Units, cadres and workers in the transport sector from many localities gathered here, contributing their strength and intelligence, ensuring the traffic arteries serving the resistance war. The Department of Transport was awarded the emulation flag by Uncle Ho, and many cadres and workers were awarded medals and badges by the State.
At the relic site, local authorities and people built a memorial stele (in 2008) and collected artifacts and recorded witness testimonies to preserve the value of the relic. In 2025, the Vietnam Road Administration will build a memorial house for Uncle Ho with a total investment of about 2.5 billion VND, from socialized sources and contributions from industry officials. The project will be completed on the occasion of National Day, September 2, 2025.
The announcement and ranking of the relic took place on the occasion of the whole country celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2) and the 80th anniversary of the tradition of the Transport sector, contributing to honoring the contributions of the sector and educating traditions for today's and future generations.
The project to renovate and upgrade the relic site where Decree No. 72/SL was announced was deployed by the Roads Department on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19). The project consists of two main items. The relic stele house has a total area of nearly 30 square meters; in the middle of the stele house is a monolithic stone stele 1.5 meters high, engraved on one side with the content: "Here, Decree No. 72//SL dated December 25, 1951 of President Ho Chi Minh establishing the Department of Transport under the Ministry of Transport and Public Works is announced". |
