Thai Nguyen: Imports and exports increased by 21.9%.

According to estimates, the total value of goods exports and imports in Thai Nguyen province in August 2025 reached US$4 billion, an increase of 21.9% compared to the same period last year. For the first eight months of the year, the total value of goods exports and imports in the province reached US$33.7 billion, an increase of 8.4% compared to the same period last year. The trade balance continued to maintain a large surplus of approximately US$7.6 billion.

Accordingly, export value in the first eight months reached US$21 billion, an increase of 4.3% compared to the same period last year; of which, exports from the domestic and local economic sectors increased by 3%. Exports from the FDI sector accounted for a large proportion, reaching US$20.1 billion, an increase of 4.4%.

Several key export sectors maintained relatively strong growth, including: garments reaching US$367.1 million (up 7.1%), non-ferrous metals and refined ores reaching US$166.6 million (up 6.3%), and wood products reaching US$12.4 million (up 9.8%).

In particular, mobile phones, tablets, and other electronics continued to be a strong point, with export value reaching $19.7 billion, accounting for over 95% of the province's total export value.

Conversely, total merchandise imports in the first eight months reached US$13 billion, an increase of 15.5% compared to the same period last year. Of this, the domestic and local economic sector increased by 3.9%; the foreign-invested economic sector increased by 15.9%, corresponding to a value of US$12.6 billion.

The main imported items remain focused on raw materials and electronic components, machinery, equipment and spare parts, wood processing materials, animal feed, etc., indicating that the demand for production expansion by businesses continues to increase.

The import and export growth rate shows that industrial production in Thai Nguyen province is recovering and developing steadily. Several key industrial product groups have completed 70-80% of their annual plan as early as August, creating an important foundation for the entire industrial sector to strive to achieve and surpass the 2025 targets.

Positive signals from import-export activities and industrial production show that Thai Nguyen is continuing to play its role as a major electronics industrial center of the country, affirming the position of the FDI business sector and the rise of domestic enterprises.
