On September 14th, a team of doctors and medical experts from Viet Duc Hospital visited Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital, Bao Yen District General Hospital, and Bao Thang District General Hospital – where many victims of Typhoon No. 3 are being treated, including those affected by the devastating flash flood in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district.

At Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital, the delegation brought 100 units of blood donated by the doctors, nurses, and medical staff of Viet Duc Hospital, along with 300 million VND in emergency support for the hospital.

Leading experts in trauma surgery, neurosurgery, and intensive care from Viet Duc Hospital directly examined the patient, classified the injuries, and shared important professional experiences to help the patient overcome the critical stage.

Viet Duc Friendship Hospital has provided 100 million VND in support to the family of a medical staff member working at Ta Cu Ty Health Station, Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province, who died after being swept away by floods while on duty.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Manh Khanh visited a child who was a victim of the landslide. The child is being cared for by her grandmother at Bao Yen District General Hospital.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Manh Khanh, Deputy Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, personally examined the patients, reviewed their medical records, and X-rays.

Many patients suffered serious injuries due to the floods, including young children with numerous wounds all over their bodies, their eyes still filled with terror.

At Bao Yen District General Hospital, where many survivors of the landslide in Lang Nu village are being treated, Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Manh Khanh and other doctors held a consultation to develop the best treatment plan for the patients.

At Bao Thang District General Hospital, the medical team from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital also directly participated in consultations, examinations, and provided encouragement to patients.

Following the heavy rains and flooding after Typhoon No. 3, both district-level hospitals suffered significant damage to property, equipment, and medicines. To date, medical staff at both hospitals are still clearing mud and repairing damaged equipment to ensure the provision of medical services and emergency care for the people.

Viet Duc Friendship Hospital has provided 300 million VND each to Bao Yen District General Hospital and Bao Thang District General Hospital to help improve working conditions and enhance the effectiveness of emergency services at both hospitals.

To date, three victims of the flash flood in Lang Nu village have been transferred to central-level hospitals, including one patient being treated at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and two patients being treated at Bach Mai Hospital.

According to information from Bach Mai Hospital, as of this afternoon, the two critically ill patients from the landslide in Lang Nu village being treated there have shown no improvement. Currently, the patients still require ECMO intervention, respiratory and circulatory support, continuous hemodialysis combined with adsorption hemodialysis, optimal broad-spectrum antibiotics, bronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage, and blood product transfusions…

The 11-year-old child being treated at the Pediatric Center remains in critical condition, requiring mechanical ventilation and gastric lavage due to crush syndrome, multiple injuries, and a large amount of mud in the stomach.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, said that the hospital is focusing all its resources, medicines, and equipment to treat the two patients, hoping to help them overcome the critical condition.
