The exhibition was held at the very place that used to be the headquarters of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission during the resistance war against America, bringing even more emotions to viewers.

Photos taken at the Vietnam People's Army Headquarters on the day of victory on April 30, 1975 are displayed in the exact place where the photos were taken, making viewers feel as if they were traveling back in time to witness that historic moment.

To see General Vo Nguyen Giap smiling brightly next to his comrades walking or sitting taking souvenir photos in the garden.

Before that, a telegram from the Politburo from Hanoi was sent to the Ho Chi Minh Campaign Command in the South: “We have received news that we have planted the flag on the Independence Palace. Send you our congratulations on the great victory. The Politburo is very happy.”

And at the campaign headquarters, General Van Tien Dung - the campaign commander - was equally happy.

General Van Tien Dung said: “Everyone sat around the radio and when we heard the voice of the President of the Saigon government, Duong Van Minh, announcing unconditional surrender, we all jumped up, cheered, hugged and kissed each other.

Clapping, laughter, chatter, and excitement. Mr. Le Duc Tho and Mr. Pham Hung hugged me. Everyone was choked up and moved... Mr. Dinh Duc Thien's eyes were red, saying that now if he could close his eyes, he would feel at peace.

The joy of peace of the people of the whole country is equally great, shown through many vivid photos.

The exhibition also features many other touching stories showing the nation's arduous yet heroic journey from the Paris Agreement signed in 1973 to the precious day of peace and reunification.

Visit the Politburo meeting room and the offices of two generals

Along with the information at the exhibition, visitors can admire the rooms in the house and bunker D67 which are still decorated as when it was the Headquarters.

There is the Politburo meeting room in the middle and the offices of the two generals Vo Nguyen Giap and Van Tien Dung on either side, with extremely simple furniture. Plus a secret bunker below.

The exhibition welcomes visitors until May 31.

On this occasion, the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center also announced a plan to comprehensively renovate the D67 house and tunnel relic, and to research and restore the original color of the relic.
