Singer Nguyen Huy (stage name Be Chau, born in 1997) was considered a " musical prodigy" in the early 2000s. Since the age of 3, the male singer has been performing fluently young, vibrant adult songs of that time such as: Trai tim khong ngu yen, Con tim mu maa, Tra no tinh xa ...
Born into a family with an artistic tradition, with parents who were owners of a famous cai luong theater troupe, Nguyen Huy was given the opportunity not only to sing but also to perform comedy with Hoai Linh, Viet Huong, Thuy Nga, the late artist Chi Tai... In addition to performing domestically, Nguyen Huy also toured abroad, with a salary not inferior to famous singers and became the economic pillar of the family. Nguyen Huy is said to have contributed to buying a house and hiring many housekeepers for his parents.
At the age of 27, Nguyen Huy, a member of the music producer team Tuan Mario, along with Phan Yen Nhi and Nguyen Cong Thanh, has just won first prize in the 2024 Challenge of Limits . This is his second championship, after the 2017 Love Nocturne program. The male singer will officially pursue a professional music career, with the companionship of Tuan Mario.
Nguyen Huy performs at "Challenge the Limits 2024":
During the press conference, Nguyen Huy recalled a memorable memory before the final night when he had to practice rock music all night, to the point of damaging his larynx. During the competition, he tore a ligament in his leg after practicing dancing but still tried to complete the performances.
The male singer is not pressured by the title "musical prodigy" and is used to conflicting opinions. He admits that he has been associated with the name "Be Chau" for too long, even though this is not his real name.
After the family's financial crisis that led to bankruptcy in 2018, along with the passing of his grandmother and eldest sister, Nguyen Huy suffered from depression. He and his third sister settled a debt of several hundred million VND more than 2 years ago. However, the male singer still often locked himself in his room when at home. He had difficulty communicating, admitting that he did not know how to start a conversation or ask for help from others.
"At the time of the incident, I thought I would no longer pursue this career, but in the end I realized that I could do nothing else. Many times, I did not have even 10,000 VND in my pocket to buy noodles, so I had to go out and work harder. I accepted to sing at every event even though the fee was only 500,000 VND, and even sang for free to expand my relationships. When I paid off all my debts, I had nothing left," he confided.
Currently, Nguyen Huy is more positive and focused on the future, not wanting to look back at the glory of the past, even afraid to hear his old voice again. The male singer is not angry with his parents, considering this a valuable experience that helps him mature, understand more about communication and behavior. He said he has been financially independent for 10 years and wants his parents to rest and enjoy life.
In the period after the incident, Nguyen Huy lost his artistic direction, mainly working at bars and livestreaming on an application to earn more money from donations from the audience. He said that he did not encounter too many difficulties, just that he did not have the same aura as before. However, the male singer still nurtured his passion by continuing to compose and released a song last year, with music performed by Tuan Mario.
At the time Nguyen Huy was struggling to find his career direction, Tuan Mario was the one who suggested that the male singer study music production, and has been accompanying him ever since. Currently, Nguyen Huy lives with his family but will move out to live near Tuan Mario for convenience in working. His biggest hope is to work honestly and professionally.
Regarding his personal life, Nguyen Huy admits that he is "single by his ability" because he is straightforward in his interactions with the opposite sex. He was once sponsored for cosmetic surgery but refused and currently does not want any intervention in his appearance. The singer born in 1997 humorously said that he only wants to "lengthen his legs" to be taller.
Once a musical prodigy, singer Nguyen Huy is still actively performing shows to earn money to support himself and his family.
