As March arrives, Hanoi dons a new coat amidst the changing leaves of the season.

(CLO) In the early days of March, when the last vestiges of winter's chill still linger in the early morning breeze, Hanoi enters a poignant moment of transition between seasons.

Hanoi, the capital city with its thousand-year history and rich cultural heritage, seems to slow down in the subtle rhythm of nature's transformation, as trees simultaneously change their leaves, painting street corners with shades of yellow, red, and vibrant green.

According to reporters, along central streets such as Phan Dinh Phung, Hoang Dieu, Dinh Tien Hoang, and Thanh Nien, rows of trees like the sấu, xà cừ, bằng lăng, and lộc vừng (a type of tree) have begun to shed their leaves. Dry leaves fall abundantly on the sidewalks, swirling in the gentle breeze, creating a scene that is both romantic and melancholic. Many Hanoi residents liken this moment to a "fifth season" of Hanoi – brief but enough to leave an unforgettable impression.

As March arrives, Hanoi dons a new coat amidst the changing leaves at the Hang Dau water tower.

In the morning, as the sun still shyly peeks through the thin mist, layers of golden leaves blanket the road, creating a soft, natural carpet underfoot. The gentle rustling of the sanitation workers' bamboo brooms blends with the birdsong, painting a picture of peaceful life. By midday, the soft spring sunshine illuminates the newly sprouted leaves with a clear, fresh green hue, signaling the beginning of a new growth cycle.

Beyond just a change in scenery, the changing seasons bring subtle shifts in people's perceptions. The dry chill gradually gives way to warmth, and the sky becomes higher and clearer. Hanoians begin to shed their thick coats, replacing them with lighter clothing, and leisurely stroll beneath the trees that are coming back to life.

At Hoan Kiem Lake, many tourists take advantage of the special moment of the autumn foliage season to capture the moment. Afterwards, photos with falling golden leaves or newly sprouted buds are quickly shared on social media, attracting the attention of the community. For them, this is not just a change of weather, but also a symbol of renewal and hope.

Tourists take photos next to the ancient Barringtonia tree on Dinh Tien Hoang Street as it changes its leaves, transitioning into spring.

Amidst the vibrant yellow and red hues of the changing leaves, Ms. Hanh (54 years old, Cau Giay ward) took advantage of the morning to go to Hoan Kiem Lake to take pictures next to the crape myrtle tree, which is at its most beautiful stage of the year.

Dressed in a traditional ao dai, Ms. Hanh gracefully posed under the sparse foliage of a Barringtonia tree. Old leaves, tinged with red and yellow, fell sporadically onto the calm surface of the lake, creating a poetic scene in the heart of the capital. “The tree only changes its leaves this beautifully once a year. I wanted to capture this special moment of Hanoi during the changing seasons,” she shared.

According to Ms. Hanh, even though she has lived in Cau Giay for many years, she still maintains the habit of strolling around Hoan Kiem Lake every time the seasons change, breathing in the fresh air and admiring the changing colors of the trees. " It feels like the city slows down, becoming gentler. Watching the leaves fall makes me feel lighter," Ms. Hanh added.

According to ecological experts, the simultaneous shedding of leaves in many urban tree species at this time of year is a natural phenomenon. After the dry, cold winter, trees shed their old leaves to concentrate nutrients on new shoots. As a result, within just a few weeks, the previously bare canopies will be covered in green again, restoring the familiar shady appearance to the streets.

Each season leaves its own mark, and the season of changing leaves is a gentle reminder that after the hardships, life still quietly blossoms.

Notably, the pace of urban life seems to slow down with the changing seasons. Roadside cafes are busier in the mornings and late afternoons. Under the transitional weather, sitting with a hot cup of tea or fragrant coffee, watching the people pass by beneath the trees changing color – this moment of transition thus becomes a rare respite amidst the hustle and bustle of the capital.

The changing seasons in Hanoi are not noisy or ostentatious. It's a quiet transformation, yet powerful enough to stir the heart. In the endless cycle of time, each season leaves its own mark, and the season of falling leaves is a gentle reminder that after hardship, life still quietly blossoms.
