In the 0.05% increase in CPI in August compared to the previous month, there were 8 groups of goods and services with increased price index; 03 groups of goods and services with decreased price index.
Specifically, the price index of 8 groups of goods and services increased, including: Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 0.21%; Education increased by 0.21%; Clothing, hats and footwear increased by 0.17%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 0.17%; Household equipment and appliances increased by 0.11% due to increased production and labor costs; Other goods and services increased by 0.11%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.08%; Medicines and medical services increased slightly by 0.03%.
On the contrary, the price index of 3 groups of goods and services decreased, including: Post and telecommunications decreased by 0.04%; Food and catering services decreased by 0.06%; and Transportation decreased by 0.11%.
Core inflation in August increased by 0.19% over the previous month and by 3.25% over the same period last year. On average, core inflation increased by 3.19% over the same period last year in the first 8 months of 2025, lower than the 3.25% increase of the average CPI.
Domestic gold prices fluctuate in the same direction as world gold prices. As of August 30, 2025, the average world gold price was at 3,418.45 USD/ounce, up 1.47% compared to the previous month, mainly due to expectations of the US Federal Reserve (FED) cutting interest rates and the weakening of the USD. In addition, geopolitical instability, buying activities of Central Banks and strong demand for gold in Asian markets have also impacted world gold prices.
Domestically, the gold price index in August increased by 1.2% over the previous month; increased by 48.62% over the same period in 2024. On average, over 8 months, it increased by 40.25% over the same period last year.
Regarding the domestic US dollar price, August increased by 0.36% compared to the previous month; increased by 4.43% compared to the same period in 2024. On average, 8 months increased by 3.45% compared to the same period last year./.
