Establishment of Market Management Department under the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City

Accordingly, the City People's Committee decided to establish the Market Management Department under the Department of Industry and Trade on the basis of receiving the original status of the Market Management Department of Can Tho City under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and reorganizing it into the Market Management Department. The Market Management Department has the function of assisting the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade in state management and organizing law enforcement on prevention, combat and handling of smuggling of goods; production and trade of counterfeit goods, prohibited goods, goods of unknown origin; acts of infringement of intellectual property rights; acts of violation of laws on quality, measurement, price, food safety; acts of violation of laws on protection of consumer rights and acts of commercial fraud according to the law in Can Tho City. The Market Management Department has legal status, headquarters, seal and separate account according to the law.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade to carry out the contents related to the establishment of the Market Management Department on the basis of receiving the original status of the Market Management Department of Can Tho City from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Directing the Market Management Department under its authority and current management decentralization to carry out the contents related to personnel, assets, finance, and re-registration of seals according to regulations. The Director of the Department of Home Affairs coordinates with the Department of Industry and Trade to carry out the contents related to the regulations on functions, tasks, organizational structure, job positions and civil servant payroll according to regulations to ensure streamlining and effective use of the assigned civil servant payroll.

► On the same day, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee signed Decision No. 971/QD-UBND dated April 18, 2025 on reorganizing specialized departments under the Department of Industry and Trade. Accordingly, the Decision merged the Department of Energy Management and the Department of Industrial Management, the new name after the merger is the Department of Industrial and Energy Management.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade to carry out the contents related to the merger of specialized departments according to regulations; preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to draft the Decision amending the regulations on functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Department of Industry and Trade, submit to the City People's Committee for consideration and decision according to regulations; request competent agencies to consider and resolve the regime and policies for redundant civil servants after rearrangement (if any) according to regulations; arrange and assign the number of civil servants in accordance with approved job positions. The Director of the Department of Home Affairs is responsible for guiding, monitoring, inspecting, urging and coordinating with the Department of Industry and Trade to carry out the relevant contents on the regulations on functions, tasks, powers, organizational structure, job positions and civil servant payroll according to regulations to ensure streamlining and effective use of the assigned number of civil servant payroll.
