Establish a Market Management Sub-Department under the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City.

(CT) - On April 18, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Truong Canh Tuyen, signed Decision No. 973/QD-UBND on the establishment of the Market Management Sub-Department under the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Can Tho City decided to establish the Market Management Sub-Department under the Department of Industry and Trade, based on the existing Can Tho City Market Management Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and reorganized it into a Market Management Sub-Department. The Market Management Sub-Department has the function of assisting the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade in state management and organizing the enforcement of laws on preventing, combating, and handling acts of trading smuggled goods; producing and trading counterfeit goods, prohibited goods, goods of unknown origin; acts infringing intellectual property rights; acts violating laws on quality, measurement, price, and food safety; acts violating laws on consumer protection; and acts of commercial fraud as prescribed by law within Can Tho City. The Market Management Sub-Department has legal personality, its own headquarters, seal, and bank account as prescribed by law.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City assigned the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade to implement matters related to the establishment of the Market Management Sub-Department based on the transfer of the existing Can Tho City Market Management Department from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Director shall direct the subordinate Market Management Sub-Department, within its current authority and management decentralization, to carry out matters related to personnel, assets, finance, and re-registration of the seal as prescribed. The Director of the Department of Internal Affairs shall coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to implement matters related to the regulations on functions, tasks, organizational structure, job positions, and civil servant staffing according to regulations, ensuring efficiency and effective use of the allocated civil servant staff.

► On the same day, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, signed Decision No. 971/QD-UBND dated April 18, 2025, on the reorganization of specialized departments under the Department of Industry and Trade. Accordingly, the Decision merged the Energy Management Department and the Industrial Management Department, with the new name after the merger being the Industrial and Energy Management Department.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee assigns the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade to implement matters related to the merger of specialized departments in accordance with regulations; to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies in drafting a Decision amending the regulations on the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Department of Industry and Trade, and submit it to the City People's Committee for consideration and decision in accordance with regulations; to request the competent authority to consider and resolve the entitlements and policies for redundant civil servants after the restructuring (if any) in accordance with regulations; and to arrange and assign the number of civil servants in accordance with the approved job positions. The Director of the Department of Internal Affairs is responsible for guiding, monitoring, inspecting, urging, and coordinating with the Department of Industry and Trade to implement matters related to the regulations on functions, tasks, powers, organizational structure, job positions, and civil servant staffing in accordance with regulations, ensuring a streamlined and efficient use of the allocated civil servant staffing.
