Attending the meeting were Mr. Pham Hung Thai - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Vo Duc Trong - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
On the side of the Kingdom of Cambodia, there were Mr. Toch Polyva - Deputy Governor, Vice President of the Cambodian Youth Union of Svay Rieng province; Mr. Mao Dung - Deputy Governor, President of the Cambodian Youth Union of Tbong Khmum province.
During the meeting, delegates from the two Cambodian border provinces of Svay Rieng and Tbong Khmum expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation for the timely support and righteous spirit of the Vietnamese army and people in the fight against the genocidal Khmer Rouge Pol Pot-Ieng Sary.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Secretary of Tay Ninh Provincial Youth Union spoke about the significance of the anniversary program.
Mr. Toch Polyva said: “We always remember and express our gratitude for the great contributions and sacrifices of the Vietnamese army and people, especially the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fought side by side with the Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation to wage a lightning-fast self-defense war, saving the country and the Cambodian people from the genocidal regime, leading to a historic victory on January 7, 1979. That victory opened an era of independence, freedom, democracy and social progress for Cambodia.”

The Deputy Governor and Vice President of the Cambodian Youth Union of Svay Rieng province hopes that these good feelings will be increasingly strengthened through cooperation agreements, joining hands to maintain and protect security, safety and social order in the border area and paying special attention to youth work, creating conditions for youth of the two countries to exchange culture as well as learn from experiences in gathering and developing youth.
Mr. Mao Dung - Deputy Governor, Chairman of the Cambodian Youth Union of Tbong Khnum province also expressed his high agreement with the organization of the program to celebrate the Victory Day of the war to protect the Southwestern border of the Fatherland and together with the Cambodian army and people to defeat the genocidal regime. This is a meaningful activity, clearly reflecting the history of the struggle, standing shoulder to shoulder of the Cambodian United Front for National Salvation and the Vietnamese Volunteer Army. The bravery, justice, blood and life sacrifice of the Vietnamese army and people to help overthrow the genocidal regime and liberate the Cambodian people are contributions that the Cambodian people will never forget.
During the renovation period, he hoped that the friendship, cooperation and development between the two countries would be even stronger. At the end of his speech, he shouted the slogan “Vietnam – Cambodia Samaki”, expressing his gratitude and determination to preserve the diplomatic relationship between Tay Ninh and Tbong Khnum provinces, as well as the friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Secretary of Tay Ninh Provincial Youth Union emphasized that the war to protect the southwestern border of the Fatherland was a just self-defense war, a "compulsory war" to repel invaders, protect independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and fulfill noble international obligations.
The end of the genocidal regime was also the starting point for the revival and construction of a beautiful and prosperous Cambodia today. This has great significance and is extremely important for the continuation of the good traditional friendship between the two countries and peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia. Over the years, that relationship has been continuously consolidated and developed firmly under the motto "good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability", bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, actively contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.
Mr. Toch Polyva - Deputy Governor, Vice President of the Cambodian Youth Union of Svay Rieng province expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese army and people in the war to repel the genocidal army.
Along with the good diplomatic relations between the two countries, exchange and cooperation activities between Vietnamese and Cambodian youth organizations, specifically between the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Youth Committee of the Cambodian People's Party; between the Vietnam Youth Federation and the Cambodian Youth Federation at both the central and local levels have been organized with practical content and meaning, suitable to the needs, interests and legitimate aspirations of the youth of the two countries, thereby enhancing mutual understanding.
The youth of Tay Ninh and the youth of the neighboring provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia respect and engrave in their minds the great sacrifices, courage and strong will of the generations of fathers and brothers of the two countries who did not spare their blood and bones for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Fatherland, and for the noble international duty. The young generation needs to clearly define their own responsibilities towards the country, community and society, live with ideals and ambitions to continue the glorious and heroic tradition of the nation.
Mr. Mao Dung, Deputy Governor, Chairman of the Cambodian Youth Union of Tbong Khmum province presented a souvenir to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Secretary of Tay Ninh Provincial Youth Union.
On this occasion, the Provincial Youth Union presented 10 gifts to families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and people with meritorious services in the war to protect the southwestern border of the Fatherland who are currently living and working in Tan Bien to express the gratitude of the youth to the previous generations.
