Hai Phong City aims for digital economy to account for 35% of GRDP by 2025

The City People's Committee has just issued Plan 106/KH-UBND on digital economic development in industries and fields in the city by 2025.

The plan sets a target that by the end of 2025, the proportion of the digital economy will reach 35% of GRDP; the digital economy in each industry and field will reach at least 15%; e-commerce will account for over 15% of total retail sales. In addition, the city aims to achieve a rate of over 0.7 digital technology enterprises per 1,000 people; 85% of the population aged 15 and over will have a payment account at a bank or other licensed organization; more than 50% of adults will have a digital signature or personal electronic signature; and 80% of adults will have a VNeID electronic identification account. This is an important step to promote comprehensive digital transformation and develop a modern and sustainable economy in Hai Phong city.

The City People's Committee's plan sets a target that by the end of 2025, the proportion of digital economy will reach 35% of GRDP.

Accordingly, the City People's Committee's Plan focuses on the key task of organizing surveys, measuring and evaluating the level of digital transformation in industries and fields. The city will guide organizations, enterprises and business households to self-assess according to a set of standard criteria through conferences and workshops; pilot in some localities to gain experience before expanding throughout the city. At the same time, the city will support connecting subjects with the ecosystem of digital products and services to build a sustainable local digital ecosystem.

In addition, the city focuses on developing strong digital technology enterprises, which play the role of advanced production forces in the digital economy. The authorities will identify practical problems to place orders for digital technology enterprises according to specialized instructions, thereby solving bottlenecks in development.

The construction of Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure and the synchronous deployment of digital utilities are also being promoted in key sectors and industries. Hai Phong has identified five priority sectors to promote the digital economy, including: e-commerce, smart tourism, smart agriculture, smart manufacturing and information and communication technology (ICT).

In this Plan, the City People's Committee also requires departments, branches and localities to integrate the goals and tasks of digital economic development into the digital transformation programs and plans of their respective branches and fields. At the same time, organize extensive propaganda among cadres, civil servants, workers and people to raise awareness and create consensus in implementation./.
