On the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2025), welcoming the Party Congresses at all levels, on the morning of July 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation coordinated with the City Blood Transfusion and Hematology Hospital to organize a launching ceremony for the voluntary blood donation program with the theme "Sharing drops of red blood" in response to the peak period of activities to promote voluntary blood donation in the city.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, emphasized the importance of blood donation, considering it a noble humanitarian act, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love of the City's workers, accompanying all levels and sectors to share drops of red blood to help patients in need of blood. At the same time, she called on everyone to actively participate and join hands to help patients in need of blood, affirming that blood donation is not only good for the recipient but also beneficial for the donor.
According to Ms. Loan, blood donation is one of the annual activities of the City's Trade Union at all levels and has attracted a large number of workers, laborers, union members, and students to participate.
"With the spirit of 'A drop of blood given, a life saved,' the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation hopes that the voluntary blood donation program will continue to receive the active and enthusiastic participation of union members, youth volunteers and workers in the City. Thereby, demonstrating the spirit of 'mutual love,' uniting together, building a united and strong community, spreading the noble act of donating blood to save lives in the community and society," Ms. Loan shared.
According to Ms. Nguyen Phuong Lien, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Blood Transfusion and Hematology Hospital, voluntary blood donation is to build cultural beauty and a humane tradition of love for the community.
"The precious thing is not just the number, but each unit of donated blood carries the love, compassion, and community responsibility of the team of workers, civil servants, and laborers of Ho Chi Minh City, true to the spirit of 'A drop of blood given, a life saved.' Each unit of blood is not only a priceless gift in terms of medicine, but also a living proof of the spirit of 'mutual love' for the community," Ms. Lien shared.
According to Ms. Lien, to have a qualified blood donation session, in addition to the professional capacity of the receiving unit, it also requires consensus and smooth coordination from the organizing unit and the voluntary blood donors. The units respectfully considered the voluntary blood donation session as a festival; especially the careful preparation from surveying and selecting a suitable location, ensuring safety - hygiene, convenience; organizing reception, guiding procedures, taking care of the health of participants after donation; organizing statistics, data entry and communication information before and after blood donation... creating the success of the blood donation session.
Respecting and appreciating the voluntary blood donors; the efforts of the Union staff at all levels not only mobilized by words, but also spread by actions, Ms. Lien believes that good coordination between the parties will contribute to spreading the voluntary blood donation movement widely to every industrial park, every workshop, every grassroots organization so that safe blood sources are always ready to serve patients.
Present very early at the launching ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Medicine Hospital, said that this was her 5th blood donation, and this time she donated 350 ml, more than the previous donations. "Each donation is a heartwarming one because each drop of blood donated will help those in urgent need..." Ms. Ngan shared, at the same time hoping that the voluntary blood donation movement will spread more deeply and widely among union members and workers in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Blood Transfusion and Hematology Hospital, in the first 6 months of 2025, the Trade Union at all levels organized 16 blood donation campaigns, mobilizing 4,500 union members and workers to participate, receiving more than 3,200 units of blood.
