With the persistent efforts and determination of the entire political system, along with the support and consensus of the people, Tan An City has successfully completed 9/9 criteria and was officially recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting civilized urban standards in 2024.
The ceremony to announce and receive the decision, combined with a meeting to celebrate the Party and the Spring of At Ty 2025, was solemnly held by Tan An City on January 12.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Bong; Former President Truong Tan Sang; Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission Mai Van Chinh; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Judicial Committee Hoang Van Lien; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Nguyen Tuan Anh; Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Tan Dung; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Long An province Nguyen Thanh Hai; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Ut; former provincial leaders; members of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders and a large number of people in Tan An city.
As a satellite city of Ho Chi Minh City and an important trading gateway of the Mekong Delta, Tan An has continuously affirmed its role as a connecting hub between the Southwest and the Southeast. The city's economy has developed steadily with a strong increase in the proportion of trade and services. At the same time, the rapid urbanization rate, along with synchronous investment in infrastructure works, has changed the urban appearance of Tan An in an increasingly spacious and modern direction. Up to now, Tan An has completed 9/9 civilized urban criteria; 100% of wards in the area meet civilized urban standards; 100% of communes meet new rural standards and have been officially recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting civilized urban standards in 2024.

Tan An City is the first unit in the country to be honored to be recognized as a provincial city meeting civilized urban standards. This is not only an event of profound political and social significance but also a great source of pride for the people of Tan An in particular and the whole Long An province in general.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa congratulated Tan An City on its achievements in recent times. He emphasized that the title of "civilized urban area" is not only a proud result but also the beginning of a new journey, a motivation for Tan An to continue to make efforts, strive to achieve higher criteria, towards re-recognition after 5 years and gradually rise to become a type I urban area.
Along with the announcement and reception of the decision to recognize the Civilized Urban Area in 2024, Tan An City also received the Emulation Flag of the Government for its outstanding achievements, leading the patriotic emulation movement in 2023 of the province. On this occasion, 19 collectives and individuals received certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in building Tan An City to meet civilized urban standards and excellently completing the tasks in 2024.
The event ended but opened a new journey for Tan An in its journey to become a green city, a smart city, worthy of its role as a gateway city of the Mekong Delta.
