At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen and Mr. Tran Cat Ninh reviewed the long-standing relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai, with 29 years of establishing sister city relations and many practical cooperation programs.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nen emphasized that the current goal is to bring the friendship and cooperation between the two cities to a new level, becoming more and more substantial and effective.
Ho Chi Minh City currently possesses an abundant, high-quality workforce, increasingly affirming a large, dynamic, creative and developing market. Ho Chi Minh City's upcoming development goals include becoming a place to attract international financial institutions and economic groups.
In response, Mr. Tran Cat Ninh congratulated Ho Chi Minh City on its achievements and expressed his agreement with Mr. Nguyen Van Nen on the efforts to bring the friendly cooperation between the two cities to a new level. He also shared about the achievements that Shanghai has achieved in recent times.

The Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee hopes to strengthen cooperation in many areas such as economy - trade, finance - currency, green development, smart city, promoting digitalization, exchanges between experts, innovation to improve people's lives... in which leaders of both sides support their businesses to participate in the local economy of the other.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nen emphasized his expectation that the leaders of the two cities will increase contact and exchange and invite Mr. Tran Cat Ninh to visit Vietnam; as well as agree to direct the enhancement of exchanges and sharing of experiences at the department, branch, sector and people's organizations levels.
In response, Mr. Tran Cat Ninh also invited the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to visit Shanghai next November, when the city will organize many important events.
