The movement "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" has become a highlight in patriotic emulation movements in Lam Dong province in recent years.

Thien Nghiep Organic Livestock Cooperative operates a green agricultural chain model, raising regional specialty animals (lizards, pigeons, chickens) combined with ecotourism and experiential activities.

Spreading the movement

The movement not only strongly inspires creativity and the pursuit of legitimate wealth among members and farmers, but also makes a significant contribution to restructuring the agricultural sector, building new rural areas, and developing the collective economy in the region.

According to Mr. Truong Van Tung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong province and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial Farmers' Association, the movement "Farmers excelling in production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty," launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, is one of the revolutionary action movements of the peasant class. After four years of implementation (2022-2026), the percentage of farmer households registering and achieving the title of excellent producers and business owners has consistently increased over the years and exceeded the set targets. To date, the entire province has more than 148,000 farmer households achieving the title of excellent producers and business owners at various levels. Among them are many large-scale production models with annual incomes ranging from 800 million VND to billions of VND. The various levels of the Farmers' Association have organized over 1,700 training courses, transferring scientific and technical knowledge to more than 93,000 people, helping farmers apply technological advancements to production, improving productivity and the quality of agricultural products. Preferential loan capital has also been prioritized, with over 19,000 households accessing funds from the Farmers' Support Fund (disbursing over 68.3 trillion VND) and the Social Policy Bank (disbursing nearly 1.3 trillion VND), contributing to expanding production and building effective economic models.

Furthermore, successful farming and business households have become the core in establishing and developing new-style cooperatives and forming sustainable agricultural production-consumption chains. Many cooperatives and professional associations have become the driving force in developing the collective economy, contributing to increasing product value and enhancing the competitiveness of Lam Dong's agricultural products in the market.

Towards green and sustainable agriculture.

Digital transformation in agriculture has also been emphasized. Farmers' associations at all levels have guided farmers to shift their production mindset from "producing what they have" to "producing what the market needs." Simultaneously, they encourage access to market information through digital platforms, gradually forming concentrated commodity production areas linked to building brands for key agricultural products such as durian, vegetables, and flowers, aiming towards safe, green, and sustainable agriculture.

Through this movement, the spirit of solidarity and mutual support among members and farmers continues to be promoted. Successful production and business households have supported over 7,000 disadvantaged households with capital, seeds, and technical assistance; contributed over 91 billion VND and tens of thousands of man-days of labor to build rural infrastructure, contributing to consolidating the new rural development movement and sustainable poverty reduction.

However, according to general assessments, the movement still has some limitations such as uneven development across regions, especially in remote areas; slow replication of advanced model practices; and agricultural production still heavily dependent on weather and market conditions. The Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association affirmed that they will continue to innovate operating methods, promote propaganda, and inspire the creativity of farmers. At the same time, they will accelerate digital transformation in agricultural production and consumption; develop green, organic, and safe agriculture; and consolidate and expand collective economic forms. Furthermore, they will promptly identify, commend, and replicate effective models, creating widespread impact in the community. This will ensure the movement continues to develop strongly, achieve more accomplishments, and make a significant contribution to the development of the province's agriculture.
