Two more teams advance to the FIFA Club World Cup knockout round.

In the early hours of June 24th, PSG defeated Seattle Sounders 2-0, thus maintaining their top position in Group B of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™.

After 3 matches, PSG has the same 6 points as Botafogo and Atletico. Since these three teams won their respective group stage matches, head-to-head results were not considered; instead, goal difference was taken into account. PSG finished top of the group thanks to scoring 6 goals and conceding only 1.

The reigning UEFA Champions League champions, along with Botafogo, become the next two teams, following Bayern Munich and Flamengo, to reach the round of 16. Fans are hoping for a dream scenario: PSG facing Lionel Messi's Inter Miami in the very first knockout round. If this happens, Botafogo will have a Brazilian derby against Palmeiras.

From the very first minutes, Luis Enrique's team dominated the game with a series of fast-paced attacking combinations, but they had to wait for a somewhat fortunate moment to open the scoring. In the 42nd minute, Vitinha's shot accidentally deflected off Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, changing direction and leaving goalkeeper Stefan Frei with no time to react. The goal was credited to Kvaratskhelia, and PSG went into halftime with a slender lead.

However, they also nearly paid the price early in the match when goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made a silly mistake. He held the ball outside the penalty area for too long and passed it straight to striker Jesus Ferreira, but the Sounders player's shot from a tight angle unfortunately went wide of the post.

In the second half, PSG continued to maintain pressure and didn't give their opponents many opportunities to build up play. In the 68th minute, the French team launched a sharp counter-attack from a ball interception in midfield. Desire Doue dribbled the ball through and passed to Bradley Barcola, who delivered an accurate cross for Achraf Hakimi to tap in, making the score 2-0. This goal extinguished any faint hopes of the home team.

In the final 30 minutes, Seattle had virtually no noteworthy counter-attacking options apart from Cristian Roldan's long-range shot in injury time. Even so, the Sounders' efforts were not enough to earn them a consolation point in the tournament.
