(CPV) - For more than 5 years as a music teacher and leader of the Youth Union at a school in a particularly disadvantaged area of Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province, Ms. Kha Thi Tinh always kept in mind that when choosing to become a teacher, she had to help students improve their knowledge, develop their abilities, nurture their talents, participate in extracurricular activities and experience meaningful activities, so that every day at school is a happy day.
Born into a large family with difficult economic conditions, with income only relying on 2 sao of rice fields left by her grandparents, Ms. Tinh had a difficult and deprived childhood, as her father said, she never dreamed of having a bowl of white rice to satisfy her hunger! However, it was this hardship that gave her more motivation to rise up, making her dream of becoming a teacher come true.

After 12 years of trying not to drop out of school and passing the entrance exam to the Tay Bac Hoa Binh Art School, after graduating, Ms. Tinh became a music teacher. "The first day I went to work was in 1999, when I was still a contract teacher with a salary of only 230,000/month, but with the desire that all students going to school could learn music, I told myself to try to stick with it and follow the profession to the end!", the young teacher, who was only 22 years old at that time, shared.
As a music teacher and the leader of the Ba Khan Primary and Secondary School for a long time, Ms. Tinh said that this is one of the schools in a particularly difficult area of Mai Chau district. The way to school for her and her students is full of hardships because of the harsh weather and difficult terrain, especially on cold winter days, the whole way is covered in fog, visibility is limited, limbs are numb, eyes are sore...
"The challenges are like that, but they have never discouraged me. I always keep in mind that choosing to become a teacher means helping students improve their knowledge, develop their abilities, nurture their talents, participate in extracurricular activities and experience meaningful activities oriented and coordinated by the Team Leader, as well as creating many opportunities for them to participate in learning through competitions organized by all levels so that students always feel that every day at school is a happy day," Ms. Tinh expressed.
And in the 2023-2024 school year, responding to the 2023 "Communication Product Creation Contest to Raise Awareness of Gender Equality for Children in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas" organized by the Vietnam Women's Union, Ms. Tinh considered this an opportunity for students to experience and raise awareness. She organized communication sessions to help students understand gender equality and how to prevent domestic violence and school violence, from which students boldly participated and expressed their thoughts in their products.
The work "Family Meal" by the Leaders of Change Club of Ba Khan Primary and Secondary School won the Third Prize at the provincial level and Second Prize at the national level in the 2023 Competition for composing communication products to raise awareness of gender equality for children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. |
"I am very proud that the painting "Family Meal" by the Leaders of Change Club of Ba Khan Primary and Secondary School won the third prize at the provincial level and the second prize at the national level. The message of the painting is a gentle reminder of the power of love in every family. The scene of gathering around the dinner table is not just a simple meal, but it is a precious moment where everyone shares joys and sorrows, care, concern and love. Every look and smile in the painting shows warmth and sincere feelings, affirming that family is where love always exists, even in the simplest things. The painting is a reminder that moments together, no matter how small, are the most wonderful things in life," said Ms. Tinh.
Now, when moving to work at a new school with more favorable conditions, no longer having to travel 70 kilometers a day like before, but for teacher Tinh, the more than 5 years working at Ba Khan Primary and Secondary School is a truly memorable time, in which the story of Dinh Thi Nga is the most memorable.
"Nga suffers from a serious blood disease, but still tries her best to go to school. It is her students who make me overcome my hesitation to travel long distances, and tell myself that I will try my best to help and encourage students with especially difficult circumstances in their studies and training," the teacher confided.
In the 2018-2019 school year, Nga was a first grader transferred from Mo Rut, a hamlet on the banks of the Da River in Tan Mai Commune, to Ba Khan School in Son Thuy Commune. Away from her friends and not yet adapted to the new environment, Nga cried for a whole week. Seeing her parents having to go to school to study with their children, I couldn't help but feel sad. Knowing that Nga was suffering from an unwanted illness, I decided to sit with her in her place, buying her gifts to comfort her little student. Then, laughter gradually replaced crying without her realizing it.

Not stopping there, worrying about Nga's health, Ms. Kha Thi Tinh began to seek out social organizations and volunteer groups. With prestige and above all, love for students, not only reaching Nga but the kindness of volunteer groups also reached all students with especially difficult circumstances in the school because over 80% of students in the whole school come from poor and near-poor families.
"Seeing philanthropists and volunteer groups come to school to help students with meaningful gifts such as warm clothes, rice, bicycles, blankets, TVs, cash... thanks to my connections, I am very happy. Those gifts reaching the students motivate children in the highlands to love going to school more and study more actively," Ms. Tinh emotionally shared.
After 5 years of working at a school in a particularly difficult area, with the tireless daily efforts of the Team Leader and the response of the students, the Ba Khan Primary and Secondary School Union has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Hoa Binh Provincial Youth Union for 3 years.
Ms. Kha Thi Tinh is one of 60 excellent teachers who were honored and received Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training , the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union in the program "Sharing with teachers" 2024 organized by this agency in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training, and Thien Long Group. "I always hope that my students, especially ethnic minority and mountainous students, will have a luckier and happier childhood than me! I believe that each of us, when choosing a career, loving the profession and being passionate, will be successful no matter what school or circumstance!", Ms. Tinh affirmed./.
