At the 10th grade exam center at Le Lai Secondary School, Phu Dinh Ward, on the afternoon of June 1st, many students emerged from the school gate laughing and chatting. "The questions were easy, within the students' capabilities," said Thao Vy, from Binh Dong Secondary School, Phu Dinh Ward. Meanwhile, Vo Le Tuan, also from Binh Dong Secondary School, Phu Dinh Ward, said the questions were quite easy, and he wrote 2.5 pages of exam paper. Choosing topic 2 in the social commentary essay, Tuan argued that young people should learn to live for others, not just think of themselves, specifically by sharing, caring for, and helping others, and not remaining in their "private corner" due to inferiority complex and fear of facing reality, which over time will lead to stagnation and incompatibility…

At Trung Vuong High School (Saigon Ward), many candidates shared that the English section was manageable and easy to score 8-9 points or higher. Nguyen Ngoc Quynh Anh, a student from Nguyen Du Secondary School (Ben Thanh Ward), and another student from Dien Bien Secondary School (Gia Dinh Ward) both said they finished the exam in just 30 minutes, completing the subject within one-third of the allotted time. "The difficulty level was only equivalent to the mid-term and final exams at school. Compared to last year's exam, the difficulty was only about 50%," said the female student, who hoped to score above 9 points. Quynh Anh added that this year's English exam included two new questions about writing appropriate phrases based on given information. However, she said she didn't spend much time on this question, believing the official exam was even easier than the practice exams she had taken in class. "I think students easily made mistakes on the sentence rewriting section, especially those who didn't review grammar thoroughly," Quynh Anh said.
Vuong Thuc Tam Dan, a student from Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School (now Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, Ben Nghe Ward), and Vo Ngoc Anh Minh, a student from Colette Secondary School (Xuan Hoa Ward), both agreed that the two new questions in the English exam were "point-scoring parts, you could tell at a glance." However, both stated that this year's exam was of a similar or slightly higher difficulty level than last year's, making it easy to score high marks but difficult to achieve a perfect score.
Meanwhile, Tuyet Hang and Le Han, both students at Tran Danh Ninh Secondary School in Chanh Hung Ward, said that there were many questions they were unsure about the answers to. The two candidates also stated that they normally only study and review English at school, checking their textbooks at home, and do not attend any extra English classes. "If we didn't attend extra English classes, I think we would get around 6-7 points in English on the Ho Chi Minh City entrance exam for 10th grade at best," Tuyet Hang said.
Candidate Phuong Linh, a student from Ly Thanh Tong Secondary School, Chanh Hung Ward, already has a Movers certificate from elementary school, as well as a KET certificate. She is currently studying for a PET certificate and also attends additional English tutoring sessions three times a week. Phuong Linh found the English exam not too difficult; if candidates have a solid understanding of vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structures in their textbooks, along with thorough review sessions with their teachers in class, they can score 7-8 points.
