Many candidates register for admission, some schools predict an increase in admission scores

Statistics on the morning of July 31 from a number of universities in Ho Chi Minh City showed that the number of candidates applying for admission to the school this year increased compared to 2023.

Currently, universities only see the total number of candidates who have registered for admission to the school. Data for each choice 1, 2, 3... and choice for each major has not been provided to the school.

Mr. Cu Xuan Tien - Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department of University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - said that the number of candidates applying for admission to the school in 2024 increased by 17% compared to last year.

"The school's floor score this year is higher than in 2023, but the number of registered candidates increased by 2,400 candidates. This proves that the candidates' test scores have increased, and it is likely that the school's admission score will also increase. However, this is just a prediction, the admission score depends on the number of candidates' wishes for each major," Mr. Tien added.

The number of candidates applying for admission to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade has also doubled compared to 2023. Mr. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center, said that 50,000 candidates applied to the school, double the number of 25,000 last year.

Based on the score distribution of this year's high school graduation exam, Mr. Son predicts that the benchmark scores for technical majors will be similar to last year, from 16 to 18 points. Meanwhile, the benchmark scores for hot economic majors such as marketing, international business, logistics and supply chain may increase by 0.5 points compared to 2023.

On the other hand, the number of candidates applying to some schools is the same or lower than last year. A representative of Saigon University said that this year, about 41,000 candidates applied to the school, a slight decrease compared to 2023.

This representative has not yet commented on the predicted benchmark score because, according to him, the school has not yet seen the number of wishes as well as wishes by industry.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Anh - Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - said that there are about 30,000 candidates applying to the school this year. This number is equivalent to last year. Each candidate has from 1 to 5 wishes, so the total number of wishes applying to the school is about 45,000 - 50,000.

"The most important thing is the number of each wish. If there are many wishes but the order is 3, 4, 5, with less than 1 wish, the number of successful candidates will be low" - Mr. Quoc Anh commented.

Candidates have 1 day to pay the admission fee.

Candidates pay the admission fee online from July 31 to 5:00 p.m. on August 6, 2024. The Ministry of Education and Training divides candidates from 63 localities into 6 groups to pay the admission fee.

Each group pays the application fee within 1 day.
