(HBĐT) - With the desire to help children in difficult circumstances in the area rise up in life, continue to study, practice and nurture their dreams, the Standing Committee of Mai Chau District Youth Union has implemented the model "Foster children of the Union" to help poor children go to school. This is a meaningful and humane work, promoting the tradition of "mutual love and support". At the same time, it shows the concern of the Youth Union and Young Pioneers at all levels in caring for andeducating children, helping them have more will and confidence, building beautiful dreams in the future.
Na Phon Commune Youth Union (Mai Chau) gave gifts to Kha Tuyet Mai in Xam Pa hamlet.
Together with the Youth Union of Hang Kia commune, we gave gifts to Sung A Sua, a 5th grade student in Thung Mai hamlet. Sua has a particularly difficult situation, having lost both parents since childhood. Sympathizing with his situation, the Youth Union of Hang Kia commune has accepted Sung A Sua as "the Union's adopted brother". Every 3 months, the commune's Youth Union members visit and give him money, rice, fish sauce, cooking oil and other necessities of life worth from 200,000 to 400,000 VND. Sung A Sua shared: "My life is very difficult and hard, I am very grateful for the help from the Youth Union members of the commune. I promise to try my best to study to have a better life".
Saying goodbye to Sung A Sua, we went to Kha Tuyet Mai's house in Xam Pa hamlet, Na Phon commune. In the dilapidated house, there was nothing valuable except for the bicycle that took Mai to school and was also a gift from the District Youth Union. Her father passed away when she was young, her mother was seriously ill, and now the three of them depend on each other. The Na Phon Commune Youth Union has adopted Mai as "the Union's foster sister" to help and support her to continue studying. Every month, the Commune Youth Union comes to the house to give the three of them 300,000 VND and some essential necessities.
Mr. Lo Van Chuc, Secretary of the Na Phon Commune Youth Union, shared: The model "Foster child of the Youth Union" was deployed by the Commune Youth Union since August 2022 and received the consensus and response of a large number of Youth Union members. Currently, the Commune Youth Union is raising 1 student in difficult circumstances and coordinating to raise 1 student in other difficult circumstances. Each child is supported by the Youth Union with 300,000 VND/month. In addition, the support of benefactors and philanthropists contributes to encouraging the children to improve their lives, strive to study well, and achieve high results.
Mai Chau District Youth Union Executive Committee has directed the expansion of the model throughout the Union with the motto that each Union base undertakes to sponsor at least one child in difficult circumstances for one school year. To maintain the operation of the model, the District Youth Union Executive Committee requested that the Union bases proactively and actively build up funds in many forms, calling on benefactors and businesses, mobilizing contributions from cadres and union members; organizing many activities to undertake projects and tasks to raise funds. In addition to material support, the Union bases regularly visit and encourage children in life, providing timely and practical support.
Comrade Ha Cong Dat, Secretary of Mai Chau District Youth Union, said: The model "Foster children of the Union" has been deployed by the District Youth Union since April 2022 in 16 communes and towns with 16 "foster children" who are students and children in especially difficult circumstances, with disabilities, who have the will and determination to excel in their studies and lives, with a total monthly support amount of nearly 6 million VND. This is timely support to share difficulties, encourage them to strive to overcome difficulties and study well. From the above "foster children", the District Youth Union Executive Committee continues to carry out many activities to raise funds, mobilize benefactors and businesses to support funds and materials to support other students in difficult circumstances. The program has had a positive impact on young people in the area, demonstrating the care and concern of the Youth Union and Pioneer organizations at all levels for teenagers and children; At the same time, raise awareness and responsibility of young people in the cause of protecting, caring for and educating children.
