In recent times, the Provincial Red Cross Association has taken advantage of the attention of local Party committees and authorities; actively mobilized organizations and individuals to provide both material and spiritual support to people with disabilities through many activities such as: giving gifts, free medical examination and treatment, donating wheelchairs, etc. Thereby creating conditions, encouraging and motivating people with disabilities to rise up, at the same time creating a spread and positive change in the awareness and responsibility of the whole society towards humanitarian and charitable activities.
For the disabled and the elderly who cannot walk on their feet, receiving a wheelchair is a great joy, because it is like having a new pair of legs, being able to move easily without having to lie down or sit in one place. Mr. Bui Nguyen Nam in Tien Son commune (Duy Tien town) has a particularly difficult situation when he unfortunately became bedridden, and had to rely on his sister for all his activities and movements. Understanding Mr. Nam's situation, the Provincial Red Cross Association went to his house to give him a wheelchair, encouraging him and his family to overcome difficulties, helping him to be more optimistic in life. Mr. Nam's sister was moved to thank the attention of all levels, sectors and localities for creating conditions to help the family reduce difficulties. The wheelchair helps Mr. Nam a lot in his daily activities and makes it easier to move around.
At the gift-giving ceremony of the wheelchair donation program held in April 2025 at Hoa Lam Pagoda, Dong Du Commune (Binh Luc), everyone witnessed the joy, happiness, and emotion on the faces of the unfortunate sick people and their relatives. Mr. Le Van Nhien (Don Xa Commune) was happy to receive the wheelchair and said: The wheelchair helps disabled people like me to move around and do daily activities more conveniently. This is not only a practical means to support disabled people to move around and improve their self-service ability, but also a heartfelt, meaningful spiritual gift that encourages and motivates me to overcome the disease.
In 2024, the Provincial Red Cross Association coordinated with the Huong Lam Charity and Children's Rights Protection Club (Da Nang City) and the Vietnam Association of Families of Children with Cerebral Palsy in Ha Nam to organize the "Baby's Legs" program, assembling and donating wheelchairs to children with cerebral palsy and polio in Ha Nam province sponsored by the Compassionate Smile Project and NOJF. The program donated 37 specialized wheelchairs imported from Australia for children with cerebral palsy and polio in the provinces of Ha Nam, Nam Dinh , Ninh Binh, Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen, Hai Duong, of which Ha Nam province had more than 20 children who were given wheelchairs...
Mr. Tong Van Tam, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Association, said: Donating wheelchairs to the disabled is a meaningful and humane act. People with disabilities have great difficulty moving around, and having a wheelchair is a real dream. A wheelchair is not only a means to help them move around more easily, but also gives them the strength to overcome their inferiority complex and strive to improve their lives. The Provincial Red Cross Association hopes to continue receiving attention and support from organizations and philanthropists to connect with the poor and disadvantaged in society, helping them have a better life. According to the plan, by 2025, the Provincial Red Cross Association will connect and donate over 200 wheelchairs to people with disabilities throughout the province. The officers in charge of this program are all trained in the necessary knowledge and skills to implement the program and provide the best support for recipients and ensure safe use of wheelchairs.
Giving wheelchairs to the disabled has aroused the compassion and solidarity of organizations, individuals, businesses, philanthropists and the whole society towards the disadvantaged. The donated wheelchairs will help the disabled reduce some of the difficulties in traveling and living, encouraging the disabled to have more confidence and integrate into the community.
