Strengthening training links
According to The Korea Times, Khanh Hoa tops the list of foreign destinations chosen by Korean tourists during the summer, surpassing Tokyo (Japan). Data from the Agoda platform also recorded the remarkable growth of Korean visitors, currently accounting for nearly 50% of international visitors to Khanh Hoa. However, the number of Korean-speaking international tour guides is not enough to meet this growth rate. According to Mr. Vo Tran Hai Linh - Deputy Dean in charge of the Faculty of Tourism, Pacific University: "The team of tour guides in Khanh Hoa has a certain level of professionalism, but the number of international tour guides using Korean is still quite limited. Expanding specialized training for the Korean market is necessary to meet actual needs".

With the goal of implementing international Korean tour guide training programs, recently, Pacific University has signed a cooperation agreement with the Korea Tourism Management Association. The cooperation includes organizing specialized Korean language classes in the field of tourism, enhancing cultural exchanges between the two sides and promoting bilateral tourism cooperation activities. The Korea Tourism Management Association also commits to supporting experts and sharing experiences in practical training, while coordinating to develop tourism products suitable for the tastes of Korean tourists. "In addition to improving Korean language skills, learners need to understand the culture and consumer psychology of Korean tourists. This will help them serve more effectively and bring positive experiences to customers," said Ms. Chau Bich Tuyen - Deputy Head of the Korean Language Department, Pacific University.

Meet international tour guide card standards
According to Circular 13/2019 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to be granted an international tour guide card, candidates must have a college degree or higher in foreign languages, or a Korean language certificate at level 4 or higher according to the Vietnamese foreign language proficiency framework, or a college degree or higher in Korean. Currently, Thai Binh Duong University is one of the units in the South Central region implementing a regular bachelor's program in Oriental Studies - Korean and training tour guides according to the correct standards. The school also organizes free short-term Korean language classes for the local community, with no limit on the number of participants, aiming to improve the ability to access jobs for local people.

Proper investment in human resource training - especially Korean tour guides - is considered a key factor for Khanh Hoa to make the most of the influx of Korean tourists, while enhancing its competitiveness in the region. With the participation of local training institutions, including Pacific University, combined with support from international partners, the expectation of a tourism workforce that meets international standards is gradually becoming a reality.
