According to Circular 17/2024/TT-NHNN and Circular 18/2024/TT-NHNN of the State Bank of Vietnam , from January 1, 2025, payment account holders/business households and related persons in the process of using the account (legal representative, guardian, authorized person)/bank card holders will be temporarily suspended from performing transactions at the counter (payment, withdrawal on the account), online transactions (money transfer, bill payment, top-up, online card payment...) and money transfer/withdrawal/payment transactions at ATM/POS if:
1) Biometric information has not been updated (for online and ATM transaction channels);
2) Not updating new identification documents to replace identification documents (ID card/citizen identification card/passport/visa) that have expired or expired;
3) Not updated documents proving the validity of residence in Vietnam (for foreigners).
For institutional customers, payment accounts will be suspended in the following cases:
- If the identification documents of the legal representative and chief accountant expire, all payment transactions and withdrawals on the payment account will be suspended (from January 1, 2025);
- If the identity documents of the authorized person using the payment account expire, the transactions made by that person will be suspended (from January 1, 2025).
To ensure uninterrupted transactions, VietinBank recommends customers the following details:
A. For individual customers
- For customers with Vietnamese nationality, please update biometric information and/or valid identification documents (ID/citizen ID with chip) on VietinBank iPay Mobile or at VietinBank transaction offices nationwide.
- For foreign customers, please update documents proving your valid residence in Vietnam at VietinBank transaction offices nationwide .
B. For institutional customers
Please update the valid identification documents of the legal representative, chief accountant, and authorized person to use the payment account at VietinBank transaction offices nationwide. In particular, VietinBank respectfully sends a note to customers:
- To avoid the risk of fraud and scams, customers should not update biometric information via any other website or application.
- VietinBank does not require customers to provide OTP, password, card number, security code... via phone or online.
- The content of collecting biometric information of legal representatives for corporate customers using eFAST/iPay/ERP/API/ATM will be announced to customers by VietinBank in the near future.

Instructions for updating biometric information from chip-based ID card/citizen ID card via VietinBank iPay Mobile and at VietinBank transaction offices: To update via VietinBank iPay Mobile, customers need to have a valid chip-embedded citizen ID card/ID card and VietinBank iPay Mobile installed on a device that supports NFC (short-range wireless connection technology). * Note: - For phones using IOS operating system that support NFC including: iPhone 7 series or later, iPhone SE 2020 or later. - Instructions for updating biometric information on VietinBank iPay Mobile here - In case the device does not support NFC, customers can update biological information via linking with the VNeID application (applicable to level 2 identification accounts) - expected to be deployed in the near future. Update at VietinBank transaction office: - Customers please bring their valid chip-embedded ID card/ID card to a VietinBank transaction office that supports biometric information update. - Customers will be assisted by staff in collecting biometric information. |
