In the 2023 high school graduation exam results, Van Anh scored 9.25 in Literature; 9.2 in Math; 9.6 in English; 9.75 in History; 9.5 in Geography; 10 in Civic Education, with an average of 9.55 points for each subject. When he heard that Van Anh won the national valedictorian title, Mr. Hoang Trung Sam, Principal of Hoang Van Thu High School, was very happy but did not seem too surprised. Mr. Sam affirmed that Van Anh had studied all the subjects of the school comprehensively. However, he said that to give more specific comments about Van Anh, Ms. Phan Thi Tin, the homeroom teacher, was the one who knew best.
Receiving the reporter’s call, Ms. Tin smiled happily like a mother witnessing her child’s achievements. “Van Anh is a good student, studying hard. In the exams in grade 12, she always topped the school. Van Anh’s academic achievements are very admirable,” Ms. Tin said.
During her 3 years of study, she was always in the top of her class and school. Ms. Tin said that although Van Anh was not in the Literature team, she had to borrow her Literature papers many times and photocopy them for the whole class to refer to.

“Sometimes I don’t take the papers of the students in the Literature team but Van Anh’s because her writing has the color of intelligence and wisdom, not just poetic literature. I want to tell the majority of students to learn from Van Anh’s writing style, which is clear and coherent in ideas,” Ms. Tin shared. Besides studying, Van Anh has hobbies such as drawing and watching cartoons.
Speaking more about class 12A5, Ms. Tin said that all the students achieved good exam results. Of which, 5 students achieved scores of 27 points/university entrance exam combination or higher. Not only that, although it is a rural district of Nam Dinh, Ms. Tin's students always find every opportunity to make an effort to learn foreign languages. Van Anh herself also achieved 9.6 points in English, and in the class, there were some students who achieved 7.0 - 8.0 IELTS.
Unexpected Literature test but still did well
Sharing about her upcoming plans, with a score of 28.05 in group D01 (Math, Literature, English), Van Anh plans to apply for the International Economics major at the National Economics University.
Evaluating the recent high school graduation exam, Van Anh said that this year's exam was within her ability but there were some difficult application questions, causing confusion during the test. She remembers the Literature exam the most. When she received the exam paper and saw that the literary argumentation question was about the work "The Beggar's Wife" by writer Kim Lan, she was a little "uneasy" because she did not expect the exam question to be at the end of the work. However, because she had studied enough, she still finished the exam with 3 sheets of paper. Comparing the answers from the Ministry, she thought she would only get 8 points, but unexpectedly she got 9.25 points. In Math, she also only predicted 9 points, but the result was 9.2 points.
Van Anh got high scores in all subjects, but she said she liked Math. Van Anh's secret is that in addition to studying in class, she diligently studies online materials and lectures.
Van Anh focuses on studying at school, and goes to bed at 11pm when she gets home. However, she wakes up at 4-5am every day to study. Van Anh said her family is not well off, her parents are farmers and sell small groceries at home, so she wants to study well so that she can have a stable job to help her family in the future.
