Approaching 500 billion, 'Red Rain' beat 'Flip Side 7' with the 2nd highest revenue in history

"Red Rain" reached 490 billion VND at noon on September 5, becoming the second highest-grossing film in Vietnamese box office history and on track to dethrone Tran Thanh's "Mai".

"Red Rain" only needed 15 days to become the second highest-grossing film at the Vietnamese box office.

As of 12 PM on September 5th, "Red Rain" had surpassed 490 billion VND, officially beating Ly Hai's "Flip Face 7 " (483 billion VND) to claim the runner-up spot in the top-grossing films of all time, according to Box Office Vietnam data .

Currently, Red Rain only needs over 60 billion VND to surpass Tran Thanh's Mai (551 billion VND) and become the highest-grossing film of all time. It is predicted that director Dang Thai Huyen's film will reach the top spot this weekend, as Red Rain currently has no worthy competitor and its daily revenue continues to grow strongly.

Red Rain premiered early on August 21st and officially hit theaters on August 22nd. The film continuously broke box office records with an unprecedented rate of revenue growth in the history of Vietnamese cinema. Red Rain successively surpassed Tran Thanh's The Four Contenders to become the highest-grossing film of 2025 and then overtook The Godfather, Mrs. Nu's House , and Flip Face 7 to claim the runner-up spot at the box office in the history of Vietnamese cinema.

Amidst its box office success, the People's Army Film Studio and director Dang Thai Huyen brought " Red Rain" to Quang Tri province for a free screening for over 5,000 viewers on the evening of September 4th. The screening, held at Quang Tri Citadel, was a tribute to and served local government leaders, military units, and the people who collaborated on the film's production in Quang Tri province. The film will continue to be screened for free for Quang Tri audiences today, September 5th.
