On the morning of September 5, the Organizing Committee of the HKIMO (Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad) Final Round held in Hong Kong (China) sent a congratulatory letter to Doan Tuan Nghia (student of class 6G, Vo Thi Sau Secondary School, Le Thanh Nghi ward, Hai Phong city) for his excellent performance in winning the gold medal in the round with an impressive score of 135/150.
Doan Tuan Nghia, a 6th grade student at Vo Thi Sau Secondary School, Le Thanh Nghi Ward (Hai Phong City) won two consecutive gold medals at the International Mathematics Olympiad in 2025.
According to the contest rules required by the Organizing Committee, candidates must complete a test of 30 multiple-choice questions, including 5 parts: Logical thinking; arithmetic/algebra; number theory; geometry; combinations. Each part consists of 6 questions, each correct answer is worth 5 points, no points are deducted for incorrect answers. The total score of the test is 150, the test time is 120 minutes, the test is in English.
To win this gold medal, Nghia had to go through many rounds of rigorous domestic selection. With his passion for Mathematics, Nghia performed excellently in the exam and achieved an impressive score, worthy of the prestigious gold medal.
This is the second International Mathematical Olympiad gold medal that Tuan Nghia has achieved in 2025. Previously, on February 22, 2025, Doan Tuan Nghia won the gold medal at the TIMO (Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad) held in Thailand.
TIMO and HKIMO are prestigious mathematics competitions that attract students from many countries and regions. Winning two consecutive gold medals in the same school year shows the outstanding ability, passion and persistent efforts of this 6th grade student.
This is the second International Mathematics Olympiad gold medal that Tuan Nghia has achieved in 2025.
Mr. Doan Tan, Nghia's parent, shared: "This is the second time I let my child participate in the Mathematical Olympiad. With contestants from more than 30 countries participating and a large number of students, I just hope he tries his best. The fact that he won the gold medal for the second time is a great effort on his part and the efforts of the school's teachers."

By winning the gold medal at the International Mathematics Olympiad for the second consecutive time, Doan Tuan Nghia will be specially invited to attend the Final Round of the WIMO World Mathematics Olympiad taking place in January 2026.
