On the afternoon of December 8, Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema issued a statement correcting the information that Nguyen Lam Thai - who is being detained by Lam Dong province police for investigation of property theft - was once a student of the school.
According to the announcement, after reviewing all admission records and student data over the years, Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema confirmed that there is no application, admission, enrollment or current student record under the name Nguyen Lam Thai (born 2000, residing in Ho Chi Minh City).

The school has never issued any documents, certificates, student confirmations or related documents to this individual.
The school also emphasized that the information that Nguyen Lam Thai is a "student", "former student" or "former student" of the school is incorrect and does not originate from the school.
According to the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, the information that Nguyen Lam Thai "used to study" or "used to be a student" at the school caused misunderstandings, seriously affecting the reputation and image of the school and its students and alumni.
The school's announcement also requested that places that have posted information about Nguyen Lam Thai with the content "used to be a student of the school" remove, edit and publicly post corrections according to regulations.
The above move by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema was made after Lam Dong Provincial Police detained Nguyen Lam Thai on December 7 to investigate property theft.
Thai was identified as the person who stole the handbag of Miss Mexico Leon Yuriar Angela Michelle while attending an event at Lam Vien Square - Da Lat.
It is known that in addition to being an actor, Nguyen Lam Thai participates in many activities related to beauty contests and produces content on social networks.
On his personal Facebook, Thai introduces himself as an artist manager, stage director, model and freelance actor.
The suspect had served as a judge, advisor, and director for several beauty pageants at universities, beauty pageants, and programs at the Saigon Tan Thoi and Huong Nam lottery troupes.
Thai's TikTok account has nearly 70,000 followers, regularly posting pictures of her participation in beauty pageants, celebrity weddings, and charity work to support people in difficult circumstances. Some videos have more than 1 million views.
In 2022, Thai posted on his personal page that he was awarded the title "Global Vietnamese Student Ambassador" by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in an international student cultural exchange program.
