At noon on February 1st (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year of the Snake), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the Long Thanh airport construction site to extend New Year greetings and encourage the workers and contractors involved in the project. This was the 6th time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had visited the Long Thanh airport construction site in the past 3 years.

At noon on the 4th day of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, after giving the order to commence construction of the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the progress, presented gifts, and encouraged officials, workers, and laborers working on the Long Thanh airport project in Dong Nai province.

The Prime Minister inspected the passenger terminal, apron, etc. These are major, important items, and are critical components that will determine the completion time of the entire airport project in phase 1.
The Prime Minister encouraged the engineers and workers who had made efforts to accelerate the project's progress, and urged them to continue speeding up the process in 2025 to bring the airport to completion as soon as possible. At the site, the Prime Minister presented gifts and New Year's lucky money to the engineers and workers.

Reporting to the Prime Minister, the leaders of the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV - the investor) stated that the progress of the bidding packages is going very well.
Over the past period, the consortium of contractors has mobilized nearly 7,000 experts, engineers, workers, and laborers, along with nearly 3,000 pieces of equipment, to accelerate construction. During the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, approximately 70% of the personnel, vehicles, and equipment were mobilized to work throughout the holiday, speeding up progress.
To date, the passenger terminal project has completed the underground reinforced concrete structure, floors 1F, 2F, 3F, 4F, and most of the brick walls. Workers are currently constructing the foundations for the jet bridge. The steel roof trusses are also basically complete, and roofing has begun in some areas. The project is over 20 days ahead of schedule.
Workers were delighted to receive lucky money from the Prime Minister.
For the runway and taxiway construction package, the units mobilized 2,084 personnel and 319 pieces of equipment and machinery.
The ILS/DME precision landing support equipment was delivered to the construction site in December 2024 and installation began in February 2025. The runway is expected to be completed by April 30th of this year.

For the aircraft parking apron package, the consortium of contractors has mobilized more than 1,200 engineers and workers with 329 vehicles and equipment; currently, they are carrying out the construction of the ground foundation for the passenger terminal apron area, taxiways, excavating the tunnel area, backfilling with sand, and building the drainage system for the aircraft parking apron area. Progress is good compared to the plan.
For the T1 and T2 road construction packages, the contractor mobilized 800 personnel, 196 machines and equipment, and deployed construction teams simultaneously.
To date, the basic road construction has been completed, including earth embankment and crushed stone base, with many sections reinforced with cement concrete.
The basic bridge section has been completed, including the bridge deck and main bridge route... We are striving to open the T1 route for technical traffic before April 30th, and to complete and hand over the project for use before September 2nd.

After inspecting and extending New Year greetings to workers and construction units at the construction site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh worked with ministries, departments, investors, localities, and relevant units, listening to suggestions and ensuring accelerated progress.

At the meeting, Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh stated that, following the Prime Minister's directive, the Ministry of Transport, in coordination with ACV and the contractors, is reviewing and developing a plan to determine a new critical path for the project's progress. The Ministry of Transport requires relevant units to report on progress daily and weekly to promptly identify and resolve difficulties on the construction site.
Component Project 1 (headquarters of agencies) has had 4 out of 5 projects commenced and committed to completion before December 31, 2025.
Component Project 2 (air traffic control facilities) is scheduled to be completed before December 31, 2025.
Component project 3, with ACV (Vietnam Airports Corporation) as the investor, had 3 basic packages completed by the end of December 2024, while many other packages were under construction, contractor selection, and technical design appraisal.
ACV is working with contractors to expedite construction, and all parties are striving to complete some packages 3-5 months ahead of schedule.
Regarding component project 4 specifically, Minister Tran Hong Minh stated that the units are also making efforts to accelerate progress in order to meet the deadline.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged the efforts of the ministries, agencies, and localities, and praised the enthusiastic work of nearly 4,000 officials and workers who remained at the construction site during the Tet holiday. Equipment at the passenger terminal is being installed, and the central roof structure will be installed on February 15th.
The Prime Minister requested that ministries, departments, localities, units, and ACV promptly implement the Prime Minister's directives at the meeting on January 25th, according to their functions, duties, and powers.
Review and rebuild the critical path of the project schedule according to objectives to implement the work and monitor, inspect, and supervise the investment and construction process of the project, promptly handle obstacles and arising issues within the scope of authority, and report urgent issues that are beyond the scope of authority.
The Prime Minister requested ACV and related agencies to increase machinery, personnel, construction, and equipment installation with a "three shifts, four teams" spirit, working through holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and weekends, "eating quickly, sleeping urgently," "overcoming the sun, conquering the rain, not losing to storms and strong winds"; increasing subcontractors, mobilizing police, military, and trade union forces… for tasks that can be done such as cleaning up and restoring the environment.
Regarding raw materials, the Prime Minister requested that next week, Dong Nai province hold a meeting with ministries, agencies, investors, and contractors to definitively resolve obstacles related to the supply of raw materials, with the aim of providing them directly to contractors without intermediaries.
Revocation of licenses for mines whose exploitation permits have expired or are operating improperly, as well as those exploiting the situation to hoard goods, profiteer, and inflate prices, must be strictly punished to deter future offenses. The Ministry of Public Security must get involved in this matter.
The Prime Minister also directed relevant units to build aircraft repair hangars, connecting transportation routes (including a subway line from Tan Son Nhat Airport to Long Thanh Airport), and complete the procedures for deployment to the site.
In case of difficulties or obstacles, ministries, localities, investors, contractors, etc., should report to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha for immediate resolution.
The Prime Minister also instructed Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha to convene monthly meetings with relevant stakeholders to monitor, direct, and resolve any emerging issues.
The Long Thanh airport construction project, phase 1, has a total investment of nearly 110,000 billion VND.
The project comprises four sub-projects, of which sub-project 3 includes essential airport facilities, with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) as the investor, and a total investment of over 99,000 billion VND.
Long Thanh Airport, covering an area of 5,000 hectares, is located in Long Thanh (Dong Nai province) and its first phase of construction began in January 2021.
