Prime Minister wishes for green cooperation with South Korea, railway cooperation with China - Lang Son Electronic Newspaper

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the occasion of attending the 15th Annual Pioneers Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF Dalian 2024) and working in China, on the afternoon of June 25 (local time), in Dalian city, Liaoning province (China), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Chairman of the Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Committee of the Republic of Korea Kim Sang-huyp and Mr. Lou Qiliang, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of China Railway Signal Corporation (CRSC).

At the meeting with the Chairman of the Korean Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Committee, the two sides assessed that the Vietnam-Korea relationship is at its best stage of development, political trust is constantly being strengthened; cooperation in various fields has developed remarkably.

The two sides have a lot of room and opportunities for cooperation, especially after upgrading the relationship to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in December 2022.

Emphasizing that the two countries' economies have the potential to cooperate and complement each other, especially in the field of green growth for the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, especially having signed the Framework Agreement on Climate Change Cooperation in May 2021, the Prime Minister proposed that Korea continue to support Vietnam in the fields of research, development, innovation; carry out strategic tasks on climate change adaptation and greenhouse gas emission reduction measures on the basis of implementing the Framework Agreement on Climate Change Cooperation between the two Governments; actively support and join Vietnam in successfully organizing the 4th P4G Conference in 2025.

Expressing his honor to meet Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman Kim Sang-hyup said that Korea is very interested and determined to realize the goal of carbon neutrality and green growth.

Mr. Kim Sang-hyup also shared with the Prime Minister about the room to further promote bilateral cooperation in green economic development, carbon emission reduction, and climate change response, and said that Vietnam and Korea can further promote cooperation on green growth with specific initiatives and plans.

As Chairman of the Korea Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Committee, Mr. Kim Sang-huyp affirmed that the Committee will support Vietnam to successfully organize the P4G Conference in 2025 and implement bilateral cooperation programs in this important field.

Receiving Mr. Lou Qiliang, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of China Railway Signal Corporation (CRSC), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is making efforts to promote transport connectivity, including railway connectivity, to serve green development, promote industrialization, modernization, and national development.

According to the Prime Minister, China has strengths in developing railways connecting the whole country as well as urban railways, so Vietnam wishes to discuss and find cooperation opportunities, hoping that China will support Vietnam in designing, constructing, and transferring technology, especially developing railway projects from Yunnan through Lao Cai to Hai Phong, the Lang Son route to Hanoi, and the Dongxing route from Mong Cai to Hai Phong.

These railway lines are more than 700 km long and play an important role, so Vietnam hopes to deploy them soon; at the same time, Vietnam also wants to promote the development of urban railways.

CRSC is the world's largest supplier of rail transport control systems, operating in more than 20 countries and regions, including the Jakarta-Bandung HSR project in Indonesia, said Mr. Lou Qiliang.

The Group hopes to have the opportunity to cooperate with Vietnam because of its strengths in designing and manufacturing railway control signal systems, thereby providing quality, safe products at competitive prices for Vietnam; at the same time, the unit can train human resources and cooperate with Vietnam in the field of research and development.

After leaders of several Vietnamese ministries and sectors informed and discussed related issues, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed with the group's opinion on the need to manage railways using digital technology; said that training human resources for railway projects in Vietnam is facing difficulties, so Vietnam wants to cooperate with China in training human resources, command, control, design in railway projects, and then technology transfer.

The Prime Minister hopes that the Group's leaders will continue to discuss specifically with relevant ministries, branches and agencies of Vietnam to promote projects, contributing to realizing the agreements of the two countries' senior leaders./.
