This afternoon (July 22), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the ceremony announcing the decision to transform Phenikaa University into Phenikaa University. This is a milestone marking the breakthrough of Phenikaa University after 6 years of comprehensive restructuring to enter a new phase.

Receiving the Prime Minister's decision, Phenikaa University officially transformed its operating model, becoming a multidisciplinary, multi-field university, operating under the university-enterprise integration model. Along with that, creating an innovative university with 3 core tasks of equal role: Training; Scientific research; Innovation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the change from Phenikaa University to Phenikaa University is not just about removing one word, but essentially affirming the relationship between training, research and innovation. “This is a very important nature, promoting the relationship between research, production, society and the market,” said the Prime Minister.

According to the Prime Minister, in addition to training talented people for the country, universities must also "be good at research" and link research and training with society and the market.

To develop a leading university as well as build an identity, culture and brand, three very important foundations must be identified. That is, students must be the center and subject; the school must be the foundation, and teachers must be the driving force for development.

The Prime Minister shared that in the new era of the country - the era of striving to develop a rich, civilized and prosperous nation; science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and training of high-quality human resources are of strategic significance.

“If we promote innovation, we will promote economic restructuring, change the growth model, and contribute to improving productivity, quality, and competitiveness of the economy. These are very core issues,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister assigned the task that in the process of building training programs, Phenikaa University, as well as other universities, should focus on building their own culture and identity. “I really hope that universities, in addition to providing knowledge, will change; that is, providing comprehensive knowledge, including culture,” said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said that comprehensive training is very necessary but must have a focus and key points, and expressed his wish that Phenikaa University focus on training in basic and STEM fields.

Prof. Dr. Pham Thanh Huy, President of Phenikaa University, said that by the 2024-2025 school year, Phenikaa University will offer 102 majors and programs at all three levels: undergraduate, master's and doctoral. The training scale is more than 25,000 students, trainees and postgraduates in 5 majors (including Engineering - Technology; Health Sciences; Economics - Business; Social Sciences and Humanities; Information Technology).

Phenikaa University also focuses on developing scientific personnel, building policies and investing heavily in strong and potential research groups.

By the end of March 2025, lecturers and scientists of Phenikaa University had published more than 2,600 scientific articles in prestigious international journals (ISI/Scopus), of which about 70% were published in international journals of the highest quality (Q1, Q2). More than 150 inventions and utility solutions were granted patents or accepted as valid applications.

At the event, Phenikaa University also announced its goal of being in the top 100 universities in Asia by 2030; top 3 in Vietnam for innovative universities with a university-enterprise ecosystem, synchronously integrating Training - Scientific Research - Innovation activities...
