On the morning of May 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received large enterprises in Japan.

At the meeting with Mr. Akio Yoshida, Executive Chairman of AEON Group, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated AEON's positive and effective contributions to the development of the retail and export sectors in Vietnam.
According to the Prime Minister, Vietnam has 5 important fundamental factors that AEON and other investors can expand their investment and business in Vietnam: Vietnam identifies consumption as a growth driver; has a market of more than 100 million people, a young population and a growing number of middle-class people, striving to become a country with an upper middle income by 2030; Vietnam - Japan relations are increasingly developing well; Japanese goods are popular with Vietnamese people; Vietnamese goods are abundant, with strengths in food, foodstuffs, textiles, footwear, etc. and are being greened, in line with the general consumption trend of the world.
The Prime Minister suggested that AEON Group choose Vietnam as its business base in the world. AEON Group continues to invest in more shopping centers and Outlet areas in suburban areas, combining shopping with entertainment; investing in building shopping centers not only in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Thua Thien Hue, Can Tho, Thanh Hoa as at present but also expanding to provinces and cities with high per capita income, large population, and service and tourism centers such as: Quang Ninh, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Thai Nguyen, Nghe An, Tay Nguyen, Khanh Hoa, An Giang...
The Prime Minister also asked AEON to increase imports, bringing Vietnamese goods into the global supply chain, especially products in which Vietnam has strengths such as footwear, seafood, food and foodstuffs.
Vietnam is building brands for its products; investing in synchronous logistics services, creating favorable conditions, reducing costs for products. In particular, it is recommended that AEON Group grant scholarships to students and participate in training human resources for Vietnam.
The Prime Minister asked AEON to increase imports and bring Vietnamese goods into the global supply chain.
Mr. Akio Yoshida, Executive Chairman of AEON Group, said that Vietnam is currently the country where AEON has invested the most in the world, with more than 1.18 billion USD. AEON has opened 6 shopping centers in major cities and provinces of Vietnam such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Thua Thien Hue, etc.
Agreeing with the opinions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, in the coming time, AEON will develop about 20 shopping malls in Vietnam, focusing on supermarket business and entertainment. In addition, the Group will also expand the import of Vietnamese goods for distribution at more than 20,000 shopping malls in Japan. AEON will also provide scholarships to support Vietnam in human resource training.
The Prime Minister also received leaders of Mitsui Corporation - a member of the joint venture of investors in the Block B - O Mon Gas Project of Vietnam.
The Prime Minister received Mr. Hirotaka Hamamoto, President of Mitsui Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company.
At the reception, Mr. Hirotaka Hamamoto, President of Mitsui Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company, said that Mitsui has participated in the Block B - O Mon gas project since the early days and has pursued the project for over 20 years.
Mr. Hirotaka Hamamoto requested the Prime Minister to direct the resolution of difficulties to complete negotiations and sign contracts for gas purchase, transportation, and consumption... according to the Prime Minister's viewpoint of "harmonizing benefits and sharing risks", to promote the Block B gas exploitation project in June 2023.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed regret that the Block B gas exploitation project has been stalled for many years; welcomed Mitsui for pursuing the project, even when some partners changed their investment direction; said that this is one of the projects that the Prime Minister has paid attention to, directed strongly, and urged to promote over the past 2 years to completely resolve the problems that have lasted for more than 20 years. However, the implementation by relevant ministries, branches, agencies and units is still delayed, but the problems will definitely be resolved in the near future.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Mitsui's efforts to promote the project's implementation in June 2023; hoped that the gas flow from Block B would soon serve O Mon thermal power plants; suggested that Mitsui continue to cooperate and invest in Vietnam, especially in the field of developing green energy and clean energy, in line with the world trend and helping Vietnam achieve the goal of reducing emissions to zero by 2050.

Sojitz Corporation (2003) was established on the basis of the merger of Nissho Iwai and Nichimen Corporations, operating mainly in the fields of trade and investment.
Sojitz currently has approximately 350 subsidiaries and 140 joint ventures with nearly 20,000 employees worldwide. In 2022, the Group's revenue and profit reached 2,480 billion yen (US$18.2 billion) and 111 billion yen (US$817.8 million), respectively.
Sojitz has 17 joint ventures in Vietnam with revenue of about 1 billion USD in the fields of equipment (ITC, power plants, motorcycle parts), energy (gas and coal), chemicals (storage, plastics, rare earth), industrial parks and agriculture and forestry (animal feed, fertilizer, afforestation, wood ...), paper production and BOT projects Phu My III, Vietnam-Japan Fertilizer Company ...
At the meeting, Mr. Fujimoto Masayoshi said that with the support and companionship of the Government and agencies, the Group has overcome the COVID-19 period in Vietnam. He said that Sojitz is committed to strong, long-term investment in Vietnam; presented some ideas to expand investment activities in the coming time in the fields of industrial parks and renewable energy; discussed some difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing investment preparation procedures in the past time; made some recommendations and proposals related to the direct electricity purchase and sale mechanism, renewable energy development, etc.
He informed that currently many Japanese enterprises, including large enterprises, are looking to expand production in Vietnam or shift production to Vietnam. There are about 70 enterprises that are looking into the possibility of Sojitz opening more industrial parks in Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated Sojitz’s positive and effective contributions to Vietnam over the past years; welcomed Sojitz’s expansion of investment in the industrial park sector in Vietnam. This is a field in which Japan has experience and strengths, and is also consistent with Vietnam’s orientation of cooperation and selective foreign investment attraction.
The Prime Minister said that the Government has just issued the VIII Power Plan, which prioritizes the strong development of renewable energy; at the same time, it requires the pilot issuance and moving towards the official establishment of a mechanism for direct electricity purchase and sale contracts between renewable energy producers and consumers in line with the amendment of the Electricity Law and the roadmap for implementing a competitive electricity market.
The Prime Minister suggested that Sojitz continue to expand investment in industrial park ecosystems, acting as a bridge to promote Japanese enterprises with resources in capital, technology, and management capacity to invest and do business in Vietnam, contributing to bringing Vietnam deeper into the global supply chain.
The Prime Minister hopes that with its strong potential, Sojitz will continuously expand its effective and sustainable business investment activities in Vietnam, contributing more to the socio-economic development process, especially in the fields of industrial parks, renewable energy, etc.
The Prime Minister asked Sojitz to coordinate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and relevant localities to promptly discuss and jointly remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing investment ideas; coordinate with associations and localities of Vietnam to connect, support and create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises, to participate in the Group's supply chain.
