Australian Prime Minister considers timing of visit to China

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is considering the timing of his visit to China.

Australia is discussing Mr Albanese's visit to China , as the Labor-led government pushes to end unofficial bans and tariffs that China imposed on some Australian goods in 2020, as bilateral relations deteriorated. "We will finalise the date at the appropriate time," the Australian prime minister said, continuing to call on China to remove all trade barriers between the two countries.

Last month, China said it would resume timber imports from Australia, following a visit to Beijing by Australian Trade Minister Don Farrell. Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong’s visit to China in December 2022 also led to the resumption of Australian coal exports.
