Interesting solar halo appears at noon

The solar halo began to appear at 10 o'clock and lasted until after 13:30.

Accordingly, at around 10am on May 11, the solar halo began to appear and was most evident from 11am. By 1pm, the halo gradually faded and then disappeared. Many people were very excited to go out into the streets to admire and take pictures of the phenomenon of a multi-colored halo like a rainbow surrounding the sun. In particular, at the end of the circle, a bright light was emitted in the shape of a round ring.

According to scientists , this is a solar halo phenomenon, a normal astronomical phenomenon called Halo. Scientists explain that this interesting optical phenomenon occurs because the temperature near the sun (or moon) increases, causing the air layers to change suddenly.

Hot air carrying water vapor rises above the cold air and rises into the sky. The water vapor in the sky meets the low temperature and condenses into ice particles in the shape of hexagonal prisms. When sunlight (or moonlight) shines on them, the phenomenon of light refraction occurs.

Thus, a solar corona occurs when sunlight interacts with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. The strongly refracted rays form a circle around the sun, creating a halo of white or many colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

Halos can come in many varieties, from white or multi-colored circles to arcs and points of light in the sky. The most common type of halo is the circular halo (known as the 220 halo). According to weather experts, when a halo appears, it means that there will be rainy or windy days ahead.

Previously, after many days of record heat above 38 degrees Celsius, Tay Ninh and many provinces and cities in the Southeast region have begun to experience heavy rains. Information from the Southern Hydrometeorological Station released at 5:50 a.m. on May 12, through monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar images, and lightning positioning, showed that thunderstorms are beginning to develop and cause thunderstorms.

There are places with lightning in the provinces, including Tay Ninh in the areas of Tay Ninh City, Tan Chau, Chau Thanh, Tan Bien. The Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that in the coming hours, thunderstorms will continue to develop and cause showers with thunderstorms and lightning in the above areas. Some places will have moderate to heavy rain.

After that, the cloud areas can expand and move to the West Northwest, spreading to neighboring areas causing thunderstorms. Rainfall is generally from 5-15mm, in some places over 20mm. During thunderstorms, beware of lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind level 5-6 (8-13m/s).
