Entering the match, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team took the initiative and quickly created a relatively impressive lead thanks to the brilliance of Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, but then Thailand gradually regained their competitive spirit to narrow the gap to 2 points, even equalizing in the final acceleration points of the set.
Tran Thi Thanh Thuy's poor first-step situation officially allowed Thailand to take the lead 21-20 at a sensitive moment, but once again Bich Tuyen played the role of "hero" to bring the Vietnamese team to the lead 23-22. Vietnam reached set-point first after an excellent block by Tran Thi Bich Thuy, then took full advantage of the opportunity when Pimpichaya Kokram hit the ball out, winning dramatically 25-23 in set 1 and taking the lead 1-0.
In the second set, the host Thailand responded strongly with effective attacking combinations finished by Ajcharaporn and Thatdao Pimpichaya. However, in the second half of the set, the Vietnamese team played better thanks to improved blocking, narrowing the gap to 2 points. However, a controversial situation arose when the score was 21-19, the ball touched the floor on the Thai side before Pimpichaya could save the ball, technology confirmed this but the referee overruled and still recognized the score for Thailand. From this point on, Vietnam did not score any more points and accepted defeat 19-25, the match score was leveled 1-1.

In set 3, it was not an easy set for Vietnam when we let Thailand take the lead early. However, at the most difficult moment, the duo Thanh Thuy - Bich Tuyen promptly "warmed up", helping the Vietnamese team equalize and overcome with great resilience. While Thailand had not found a solution to successfully neutralize Bich Tuyen, the Vietnamese team raced to the finish line 25-23, to have an important victory and lead 2-1.
In set 4, with home field advantage and determination not to lose to Vietnam for the first time in history, the Thai team played extremely well, effective in attack and solid in defense. The big advantage in points created from the beginning helped Thailand play comfortably in the rest of the set, we could not break away and accepted a 17-25 loss, dragging the match to the deciding set 5.
True to the nature of the decisive set 5, Vietnam and Thailand played cautiously, exchanging blows until the score was tied at 8-8. Despite their best efforts in the remaining matches, Thanh Thuy and her teammates could not stop the home team from rushing to the finish line, failing to win against Thailand for the first time in history and accepting the Silver Medal of Stage 1 of this year's SEA V.League.
In the end, Thailand beat Vietnam 3-2 (23-25; 25-19; 21-25; 25-17; 15-11).
