The survey team's destination was 10 traditional craft villages and establishments in the former Hoi An city area, including: Tra Que vegetable village, Thanh Ha pottery village, Kim Bong carpentry village, Thanh Dong vegetable village, lantern making village, Cam Thanh bamboo handicraft village, Cam Nam sticky corn village, Cam Ha kumquat village, etc. These are considered typical establishments and craft villages suitable for rural tourism activities.
While some traditional craft villages like Tra Que vegetable village, Thanh Ha pottery village, or Kim Bong carpentry village have established their brands for nearly 20 years, the production facilities in Cam Ha kumquat village and the herbal farms offered a pleasant surprise to the delegation, receiving high praise from businesses and raising expectations for the development of tourism in the area.
Ms. Luong Bich Ha, Director of Wide Eyed Travel & Tour Company, acknowledges that most establishments and craft villages in Hoi An possess unique potential and advantages. However, from the perspective of businesses and specific customer markets, Wide Eyed Travel & Tour will focus on environmentally friendly products associated with green tourism. This includes emphasizing product lines such as creative handicrafts, products connected with nature, healing products, and health-beneficial products, all based on local advantages.
“After the survey, we will develop experiential tours with specific products, helping guests to better understand the destination during their visit. Each product will be truly natural and ecological, linked to specific locations such as Thanh Dong vegetable village and Anfarm garden… These are herbal and natural products grown locally, meeting therapeutic needs and targeting health-conscious customers,” Ms. Bich Ha stated. Wide Eyed Travel & Tour's market mainly consists of Australian, European, and American tourists.
Traditional craft village tourism is not a new concept; in fact, it has become one of Da Nang city's main tourism products for many years, based on the cultural values, heritage, and rural life of Quang Nam province.
Several traditional craft villages, such as Non Nuoc stone carving, Thanh Ha pottery, and Tra Que vegetable farming, have established themselves as attractive experiential destinations for both domestic and international tourists.
According to a representative from Saigon Tourist, traditional craft villages and establishments in the southern part of the city are very attractive and suitable for the tastes and preferences of cruise ship and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourists who want to learn about the destination's culture. Therefore, shaping Da Nang's craft village tourism products is necessary and appropriate, especially in the context of the city's expanded area, to help tourists better understand the culture of Quang Nam province.
"We will study and select a few suitable establishments and craft villages with rich local value to build a product chain, enhancing the experience for tourists," a representative from Saigon Tourist said.
Saigon Tourist has been specializing in bringing cruise ship passengers to Da Nang for many years. In 2025 alone, approximately 76 cruise ships docked at Tien Sa port, bringing around 70,000 visitors to the city, the majority of whom were brought by Saigon Tourist.
In Da Nang's tourism development plan, alongside entertainment, heritage sites, and events, community-based craft village tourism is identified as a supplementary segment that contributes to diversifying destinations.
Although there are no specific assessments of visitor numbers or revenue, traditional craft products are increasingly being recognized as factors that enhance the experience and extend the length of stay, especially for international tourists.
Mr. Le Quoc Viet, Chairman of the Quang Nam Destination Club, shared that organizing the survey program not only assesses the actual quality at establishments and craft villages in the new context, but also aims to improve product quality, connect travel companies, and promote the development of craft village tourism.
"In the near future, the club will coordinate further surveys of craft villages in the south and west of the city, aiming to effectively exploit local resources in a community-oriented manner, creating livelihoods and income for the people," Mr. Le Quoc Viet shared.
