Built on an area of 9 hectares, the Vietnam Space Center is considered to be among the most advanced in terms of scale and technology in Southeast Asia. This project was implemented with ODA loan capital from the Japanese Government , with a total investment of over 7,000 billion VND.
This modern infrastructure complex comprises many important components, comprehensively serving the space technology industry, such as: the Operations Center, the Satellite Data Exploitation and Application Center, the Satellite Research and Development (R&D) Center, a prominent ground system with a 9.3 m diameter antenna, the Vietnam Space Museum, the Multimedia Center, the International Guest House, the Nha Trang Observatory, and other training support infrastructure.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: "Space science is one of the essential infrastructures of the digital economy and ensures the national defense and security of each country."
According to the Prime Minister, owning and developing satellite technology will provide crucial digital data for Vietnam to proactively monitor resources, predict natural disasters, effectively support climate change response, and promote breakthroughs in experimental medicine and the development of new materials.
The Vietnam Space Center is a significant project, representing the culmination of a long journey in Vietnam's satellite technology development. It marks a crucial transition from the foundational stage to the operational and exploitation phase, and the gradual mastery of space technology. Simultaneously, the project opens a new chapter in the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
Vision for the future development of space science.
Regarding the development orientation of space science in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that Vietnam consistently develops space for peaceful purposes and sustainable development goals, while ensuring independence, self-reliance, and self-strength. The development of space science also aims to create outstanding opportunities and competitive advantages for Vietnam, promoting double-digit growth and inclusive, sustainable socio-economic development.
According to the Prime Minister, Vietnam is developing space technology to serve specific problems for national development; it should not stop at research, but must move towards application, commercialization, and building national self-reliance.
By 2030, Vietnam aims to become a country with a moderately advanced level of space science and technology development in Southeast Asia. After 2030, Vietnam will be able to build national self-reliance in satellite technology and apply space data to solve global and national security problems.
To achieve the above objectives, the Prime Minister outlined several key solutions as follows:
First, continue to improve the institutions, mechanisms, and policies for space activities.
Secondly, mobilize and effectively utilize all resources for the development of science and technology.
Third, develop and implement major programs and projects for the development of national space science and technology.
Furthermore, it is necessary to develop high-quality human resources in space science and technology, focusing on training personnel in systems, operations, data, and information security. At the same time, international cooperation in space science and technology should be strengthened.
The Prime Minister stated that Vietnam is committed to further facilitating international organizations, development partners, and domestic and foreign business communities to continue supporting and collaborating with Vietnam in the development of space science and technology, based on the spirit of "three enhancements": Enhancing cooperation, sharing experiences, and policy consultation; Enhancing financial and technical support and infrastructure development; Enhancing training and human resource development; and "three togethers": Listening and understanding between businesses, the State, and the people; Sharing a vision and actions to cooperate and support each other for rapid and sustainable development; Working together, winning together, enjoying together, developing together; sharing joy, happiness, and pride.
