Kōfu - the capital of Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, located between Nagoya and Tokyo, is known as a peaceful and livable place. But one day, the residents here were suddenly stirred by a "visit" believed to be from UFOs and aliens. Until now, the "Kōfu incident" is still in the minds of those who witnessed it.
The terrifying encounter
In February 1975, two 7-year-old boys, Masato Kawano and Katsuhiro Yamahata, were rollerblading near the Hinode residential area in Kamimachi, Kōfu when they suddenly saw two strange objects hovering in the sky.
The two boys stood transfixed as one object flew towards Mount Atago in the distance, while the other began to descend before landing among the rows of vines in the back garden of the property. Strangely, the object emitted a strange clicking noise, similar to the sound of a Geiger counter reading radiation.
As soon as the strange object landed, the two boys took off their skates and ran to the back of the lot to get a closer look. As they got closer, they realized that it was not the orange color that had appeared in the sky, but a disk-shaped spacecraft with a silver dome.
The two children claimed that the ship was about 2 meters high and 4.5 meters in diameter, with “strange characters” carved into the hull. Looking closer, they saw a door on the hull open, lowering a ladder for a humanoid creature to land. On board, in the control cabin, was another creature, larger in size than the one that left the ship.
The creature that landed was about four feet tall, wearing a reflective uniform that seemed to glow. Its skin was a dark brown, covered in wrinkles. Most of its face was hidden by thick wrinkles, but where its mouth was, three teeth protruded, which the boys described as “silver metal fangs” that looked extremely sharp.
Strangely enough, the creature paid no attention to the two children who were staring at it in amazement, and began to walk around as if to explore the terrain of the vineyard. After a while, perhaps sensing the boy's gaze behind him, it froze and turned around. It "placed a hand" on Katsuhiro Yamahata's shoulder, patted it twice, and made a sound like a "reverse tape recorder" that caused the boy to fall to the ground in shock, almost motionless. Despite his state of shock, Masato Kawano was still calm enough, he helped his friend up, carried him on his shoulder, and ran away.
When they got home, they told their families what they had seen. Seeing their children in a state of genuine panic, their skeptical mothers took them to the location where the ship had landed.
They saw a strange orange pulsating light coming from the vineyard. Soon after, an object shot into the sky, emitting a beam so powerful that the children and their mother had to look away.

Investigations
The next day, Kawano and Yamahata went to school to tell their classmates and teachers about what they had seen the night before, and they drew pictures depicting what people believed to be UFOs (unidentified flying objects), as well as aliens they had encountered. The whole school was buzzing and talking non-stop about this strange phenomenon.
The next day, Principal Nobuyoshi Kaneko and some teachers decided to go to the vineyard to investigate, bringing along some of the school’s scientific equipment. At the supposed landing site, they noticed two “toppled concrete pillars.” One of them tested whether the children could knock the pillars down and confirmed that this was impossible.
According to the teachers, there were “landing marks” where the UFO was said to have landed. One claimed there was evidence of radiation at the landing site, although it is unclear whether they had a Geiger counter with them.
The boys were also thoroughly questioned by their teachers, principals, parents, and even famous UFO investigator Masaru Mori came to see them to hear their stories firsthand. Regardless of who asked, the two boys' stories were no different.
The Civil Aviation Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Transport responded to the alien rumors in Kōfu, with a public statement that what the two boys saw was not a UFO, but the light of a YS-11 propeller plane.
Sometimes the planes are at low altitudes (around 1,000m), and the lights and fuselage of the plane can be seen with the naked eye. However, they do not mention or give any explanation for the humanoid entities with strange fangs.
The two boys returned to the UFO landing site when they were 14 years old in 1982 and still claim the encounter was real. In 2001, they both underwent hypnosis and interrogation about the “Kōfu Incident.” Under mind control, they repeated the same story they told when they were 7 years old.
Children have detailed and rich imaginations, the two boys may have made up the “Kōfu Incident”, however, over the years their story has not changed at all. These boys definitely saw something strange that afternoon.
Until now, 48 years have passed, the two witnesses are 55 years old, but the “Kōfu Incident” is still fresh in their memories. Whether or not UFOs and aliens visited Yamanashi, perhaps only they know.
