According to journalist Pham Nguyen Toan, Vice President of the Vietnam Real Estate Association (Vnrea), Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Real Estate e-magazine, and President of the Vietnam Industrial Real Estate Federation, this is a special forum to discuss the most important trends of the 21st century: Coastal development through ESG++ megacities, with Can Gio being a promising example in Vietnam, opening up a new model of thinking and economic space, affirming that Vietnam has sufficient potential, ambition, and technological foundation to join the group of leading countries in sustainable coastal urban development in the next decade.

At the event, the Overview Report published by the Vietnam Institute of Real Estate Research provided a basis for the professional community to better understand the trend of land reclamation from the sea as a global trend, the orientation of coastal urban development, and the key role of investors in sustainable land reclamation. The report emphasized that without technology, land reclamation is impossible; without large investors, sustainable standards cannot be met; and without planning, a large coastal city cannot be operated.
Currently, Can Gio is a unique case in Vietnam, possessing a one-of-a-kind mangrove forest ecosystem; a rich natural ecosystem; a strategic location at the maritime gateway of Ho Chi Minh City; and potential land resources for creating a green, smart, and renewable megacity. Simultaneously, Can Gio is poised to become a leading ESG++ coastal megacity in Asia within the next decade.
The most important highlight of the event was the In-Depth Dialogue session, where leading experts in Vietnamese economics and real estate discussed: Green foundations and technologies, the decisive factors for the success of reclaimed land urbanization; ESG++, the standard for establishing a unique megacity for the future; TOD, the infrastructure backbone that increases property value; construction speed and investor capacity, the decisive differentiating factors.
The Dialogue event contributed to establishing a scientific foundation for land reclamation projects; defining ESG++ standards in the context of Vietnam's land reclamation; suggesting strategic directions for Ho Chi Minh City and many coastal provinces; transforming Can Gio into a model of a new generation coastal urban area; and creating a reference standard for investment opportunities and the development of coastal real estate markets in the next 10-20 years.
Many experts believe that urban development space in major city centers is increasingly scarce, and the demand for housing, services, commerce, and tourism is rapidly increasing. In this context, coastal development using modern technology, smart planning, and green governance with a century-long vision is becoming a trend in many countries. Vietnam is part of this trend; if developed according to plan, it will create national value and a value chain encompassing services, tourism, commerce, and technology, given its 3,260 km of coastline.
The Dialogue highlighted four key points affirming that the ESG++ megacity and TOD urban models in Can Gio are inevitable trends for Vietnam and the region, including: Foundation technology is the biggest turning point for sustainable coastal development; leading private investors are the decisive factor in the quality of megacity development; the TOD urban model is a guarantee of sustainable added value; and ESG++ is the standard for creating "full-cycle" cities, increasing generational value.
With all these conditions met, Can Gio has the potential to become one of Asia's leading ESG++ coastal metropolises in the next decade, a new symbol of Vietnam, and a "future hub" of Vietnam's maritime economy. In particular, Vinhomes Green Paradise is a gem of Can Gio, not only beautiful in terms of ecology but also technologically advanced, structurally sound, and possessing high growth potential, meeting the rare ESG++ standards.
The ESG++ mega-city can be summarized by three layers of value: Sustainability in foundations, technology, and environment; ecological regeneration in landscape and urban structure; and breakthroughs through green infrastructure, green transportation, and TOD (Transit-Oriented Development). These are also the three pillars that the Dialogue session clarified, opening up important interpretations for the strategy of expanding towards the sea through the ESG++ mega-city.
