Midfielder of Vietnamese origin joins Leverkusen

Maza will play in the Bundesliga next season.

Bild said Hertha Berlin and Leverkusen have reached an agreement on the Maza deal. The midfielder will join Leverkusen for a fee of 12 million euros, with a salary of 1.5 million euros/season. Maza's contract with Leverkusen runs until 2030.

In addition to Leverkusen, Stuttgart are also interested in Maza as the team is looking for an attacking midfielder to replace Ezo Millot. However, coach Xabi Alonso's team is more determined in this deal.

This season, Maza has scored 7 goals and had 3 assists in 32 matches for Hertha Berlin in Bundesliga 2.

This midfielder of Vietnamese origin made his Bundesliga debut in May 2023 when he entered the field in the 65th minute of the match against Bayern in the 2022/23 season. Then, with a goal against Wolfsburg at the age of 17 years, 6 months and 3 days, Maza became the youngest Hertha player to score in the German top flight.

Maza has an Algerian father and a Vietnamese mother. He was born and raised in Germany and played for the youth teams of this country. However, Maza eventually chose the Algerian national team as his official destination for his international career.
