"The first feeling was surprise, then numbness and the strong smell of gunpowder," the woman recounted the moment the firecracker exploded in her mouth.
In the bustling atmosphere of Lunar New Year, a rare incident happened to a woman named Ngo in Sichuan province (China).
The story begins when her younger brother brought home firecrackers. Because she was sitting in the dark living room watching TV, the dim light made it difficult for Ms. Ngo to see the objects around her. While rummaging through her brother's bag, she saw "candy" packaged in bars, looking exactly like the milk candy she used to eat as a child, so she thoughtlessly took one out, put it in her mouth and bit hard.
The firecrackers were packaged in blister packs, causing the woman to mistake them for milk candy.
As a result, the firecracker exploded in her mouth as soon as she bit it. The explosion startled Ms. Ngo’s entire family who were watching TV. Everyone even jumped up and turned on the lights to see what had just happened.
"The first feeling was surprise, then numbness and the strong smell of gunpowder," Ms. Ngo recalled the moment the firecracker exploded in her mouth.
Although Ms. Ngo suffered swelling and bleeding in her mouth, fortunately, she did not suffer any serious injuries. After the pain and swelling subsided, she was able to eat and brush her teeth normally.
It is known that the woman, while rummaging through her younger brother's bag, mistakenly took a pack of "firecrackers". This type of firecracker usually explodes when impacted or simply thrown against a wall or smashed on the ground.
Sharing about the incident, Ms. Ngo hopes that no one will encounter a similar situation. She also hopes that manufacturers will pay more attention to product packaging, avoiding confusing designs that can lead to unfortunate accidents. The incident quickly spread on social networks and attracted many comments.

Many people sympathized with Ms. Ngo and said that the product packaging was misleading. Some suggested that there should be clearer warnings on the packaging of dangerous products such as fireworks.
"There should be a warning sign, if children eat or swallow it, the consequences are unpredictable."
"It looks like real milk candy, the packaging is too confusing"
"It's easy to misunderstand. If you give it to me, I'll think it's candy."
