On the morning of May 21, in Hanoi , the National Archives Center III organized a discussion and exhibition on personal documents introducing nearly 200 images and archived documents of 8 veteran artists.
These are images from the youth, manuscripts, handwritten letters... of playwright Luu Quang Vu; writer, playwright Dao Hong Cam; theater activist Long Chuong; Associate Professor, Doctor, director, People's Artist Ngo Manh Lan; writer, playwright Nguyen Tat Dat; Doctor, playwright Tran Dinh Ngon; writer, playwright Hoc Phi; poet, playwright Nguyen Thi Hong Ngát.
According to Deputy Director of the State Records and Archives Department Nguyen Thi Nga, these documents are valuable reflections of the artistic work of the authors themselves. Moreover, with different themes and topics, the works are evidence of the spiritual life and social history of the country, containing noble human values that have been nurtured along with the rich cultural history of the Vietnamese people in many aspects.
With diversity in types and rich content, the displayed archives of individuals and the works of authors have contributed to enriching the composition of the Vietnam State Archives.
According to Ms. Nga, in addition to the system of administrative documents formed in the activities of agencies and organizations, personal documents are increasingly affirmed as historical sources of special value - both private and closely linked to the historical process and social life.

Each diary page, each handwritten letter, each old photo, manuscript or personal document... not only reflects a person's journey but also opens up authentic, emotional slices of a specific historical period. These seemingly ordinary documents, when properly valued and preserved, will become valuable documentary heritages, adding to the overall picture of national history from a close, humane and emotional dimension.
Respecting the personal relics that have been preserved for many years, Ms. Tran Viet Hoa, Director of the National Archives Center III, said that the Center will catalog the records and put them into the personal archives. Personal archives are not only related to scientific works, works that have won State awards, Ho Chi Minh awards, but also literary and artistic works known to the public. Manuscripts, stories related to the birth of the works, activities behind that tireless creativity... are all respected, cared for, and preserved by the archives for future generations. The public of future generations will have the opportunity to access and learn about the lives and works of the individuals and families who donated them./.
Carrying out the function of collecting, editing, preserving, and organizing the exploitation and use of nationally significant archival documents since the August Revolution in 1945 until now, the National Archives Center III (34 Phan Ke Binh, Hanoi) has identified one of its important activities as collecting personal, family, and clan documents.
Over the past 30 years of formation and development, the work of collecting and compiling documents of personal origin at the Center has achieved certain results. Currently, the Center is managing more than 200 collections of documents of personal, family and clan origin, which are documents formed during the life and creative activities of individuals such as: biographical documents, certificates, letters, books, official papers, manuscripts of works, creative works and scientific research of individuals, which are valuable sources of documents, reflecting diversely and vividly the material and spiritual life of the people, helping to research on authentic perspectives of social development as well as portraits and lives of typical individuals, families and clans of Vietnam. The process of creating and preserving the works and works of individuals is demonstrated in practice through exhibitions of individual archives.
