VML recounted: "She stood up abruptly and scolded the staff: Who let this kind of person in here to eat?"
The article also added a tear-jerking detail: "The meal was stuck in my throat, hard to swallow... I'm used to this feeling, but my girlfriend's tears started to fall."
But the truth is quite the opposite.
Verification through images extracted from the camera shows that when TikToker VML entered the restaurant, because the restaurant had a very narrow path, less than 1m wide and it was raining, the owner invited 2 people to sit at the opposite cafe and then had the staff bring the pho to the place. However, the staff at the restaurant said that L's car could enter, so they helped him carry the car in.
After that, the restaurant staff moved all the chairs and utensils aside for Mr. L to sit right behind the restaurant owner. When Mr. L and his girlfriend finished eating, the restaurant staff helped L move the cart outside.
The images are recorded honestly, there is no story of the restaurant chasing away customers in wheelchairs as VML said.
Previously, speaking with Lao Dong reporters, the pho restaurant owner confirmed that she never chased away customers, and that she had never said "who would let this kind of person in here to eat". She said that she never used vulgar language to chase away customers, especially people with disabilities.
According to evidence from the camera and the statement of the pho restaurant owner, the truth is on the side of the pho restaurant owner.
Not the first case, but many TikTokers consider themselves "powerful", wherever they go, especially restaurants and services, they "judge well" if they like it, and "tell them to death" if they don't like it.
Restaurants and shops that have been defamed by TikTokers on social media, whether true or not, have been criticized and "stoned" heavily. Sometimes, years of hard work building a brand, just because of one TikToker, can have a huge impact.
As in the case of the pho restaurant in Hanoi , if there were no cameras to record and extract, it would be "difficult to eat, difficult to talk" with the public. People like to hear bad things, like to believe in evil, one rumor becomes ten, ten becomes a hundred, and the shop might go bankrupt.
Not to mention, this information damages the image of Vietnamese people, tourists will see Vietnamese people as unfriendly, discriminatory towards people with disabilities, which is not beneficial for attracting tourism .
The law stipulates that acts of using social networks to provide and share fake information, false information, distort information, slander, and insult the reputation of agencies, organizations, and the honor and dignity of individuals must be handled. The case of TikToker VML "being kicked out of the restaurant for being in a wheelchair" must be clarified. If there is evidence, it must be strictly handled.
