The bodies of two children were found after several hours of being missing.

On the morning of June 1st, authorities in Lao Cai province found the body of the second child involved in the tragic drowning incident at Thia stream, in the Trung Tam ward.

Earlier, at around 10 PM on May 31st, the Fire and Rescue Team No. 2 of the Lao Cai Provincial Police received a report about two children who had gone missing after playing outside and not returning home.

The two children have been identified as HAĐ (born in 2017, residing in Pá Xổm residential area, Trung Tâm ward) and HAP (born in 2020, residing in Phiêng village, Văn Chấn commune).

That afternoon, the two brothers went out to play together. When they didn't return home by evening, their relatives organized a search.

During a search of the surrounding area, the family discovered the children's sandals left on the bank of the Thia stream, in the Cau Thia residential area, and reported it to the authorities.

Immediately after receiving the report, the Fire and Rescue Team of Area No. 2, in coordination with the Police and the Military Command of Trung Tam Ward, deployed a search along the Thia stream area.

During the on-site investigation, authorities found child P approximately 100 meters from where the sandals were discovered.

The search for child D continued throughout the night. However, the rescue operation faced many difficulties due to the darkness, limited visibility, and the complex terrain of the stream.

The participating forces mobilized high-powered spotlights, rafts, and various specialized vehicles to expand the search area downstream.

Many officers and soldiers were divided into task forces, continuously searching along both banks of the stream and in deep water areas. Despite unfavorable search conditions, the forces maintained rescue efforts throughout the night in the hope of soon finding the remaining victim.

After many hours of effort, at over 7:00 AM on June 1st, the authorities found Ha Anh D.

Local authorities and the police are completing the necessary procedures and handing over the bodies of the two victims to their families for burial.
