During those journeys of discovery, the places that left a lasting impression on me included Cat Ba Island and Lan Ha Bay with its pristine and mysterious Ang Tham.
Following the fishermen deep into the bay, I truly appreciated the wonders of Lan Ha Bay's nature. The islands are covered in a lush green carpet of trees.
The fine white sand stretches along the foot of the mountain, and the deep blue water is like a sapphire gem amidst the sea and sky. On the way to Áng Thảm, we turned off at Hàu Beach.
The fishermen here named it that way because the sandbank has a peculiar shape, resembling a giant oyster lying exposed on the edge of the rocky mountain.
The journey to Áng Thảm is an unforgettable experience, as it's impossible to travel by large boats; you have to use smaller boats, then switch to kayaking.
I spent several hours adrift on a wooden boat with the fishermen, who were intimately familiar with the habits of the tides, their unpredictable rise and fall.
The final stretch of the path was very narrow, with constant choppy waves and sharp rocks that challenged anyone's courage. We skillfully switched to kayaking to reach the crevice. Despite the difficulty and danger, once inside, the breathtaking scenery that unfolded before my eyes left me stunned.
Lush green vegetation, undulating sand dunes, and a turquoise lake, perfectly still and mirror-like, beckon. The beauty of Ang Tham lies in the fact that amidst the noisy waves crashing outside, the area within is surprisingly peaceful.
This lake is approximately 240 meters long and 140 meters wide, with a depth that fluctuates with the tides, ranging from 5 to 6 meters. The lake is home to many types of coral, which thrive and grow particularly well during the winter. Its sheltered location also makes it a safe haven for fishermen and their boats during storms.
Ang Tham is a suitable destination for those who want to explore wild nature because the road to get there is difficult and there are no services whatsoever. But it is precisely because of this that this place is always attractive and inviting to those who love to travel.Heritage Magazine
