Today, May 12, the Economic - Financial Magazine published the information: " What do economic experts say about EVN's decision to increase electricity prices?"
Talking to reporters of the Economic - Financial Magazine about the impact of the 4.8% increase in electricity prices from May 10, 2025, Dr. Le Quoc Phuong - former Deputy Director of the Center for Industry and Trade Information (Ministry of Industry and Trade) commented that electricity is needed for all economic sectors as well as people's lives. Therefore, the increase in electricity prices will have an impact on all areas of production, business and consumption. The increase in electricity prices will push up the consumer price index (CPI), affecting the Government's inflation control target (according to calculations by the Ministry of Finance , a 5% increase in electricity prices will cause the CPI to increase by 0.17%).
According to Dr. Le Quoc Phuong, in order to minimize the impact of electricity price increases, adjusting electricity prices is necessary but there needs to be a reasonable roadmap to avoid creating a burden on people and businesses. Businesses and people need to thoroughly implement electricity saving measures. The electricity industry implements measures to reduce production and business costs, such as reducing regular costs, repair costs, optimizing the operation of the power system, maximizing low-cost power plants, and mobilizing cheap electricity sources. In addition, state management agencies need to implement strict price control measures to avoid the phenomenon of "following the flow" in increasing electricity prices. In particular, information and communication work must ensure effective and clear information about the Government 's directives. "At the same time, the State needs to have support policies for poor households and policy households," said Dr. Phuong.

Domestic market sector
Urban Economy Newspaper published the information: "Vietnamese goods accelerate thanks to the wave of opening modern retail chains"
Not only developing in urban areas, retail giants such as WinCommerce, Mobile World, Saigon Co.op… are accelerating the expansion of their convenience store systems to communes, districts, villages, and hamlets. This race is not only to capture retail market share, but also a great opportunity for Vietnamese goods to cover the domestic market more deeply than ever.
The report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that currently, modern retail channels (supermarkets, shopping malls, etc.) only account for more than 22% of total retail market revenue. The remaining largest revenue still belongs to the traditional market system, convenience stores, grocery stores, retail agents, etc., accounting for 78% of the market share in the retail structure of Vietnamese goods. In order to exploit this market, large-scale retail companies and corporations in Vietnam such as Co.op Mart, Satra Foods, Vinmart+, etc. are investing in exploitation.
According to economic experts, the fact that retailers put into operation many convenience stores will "heat up" the purchasing power of the domestic market. Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Kieu Oanh said that the convenience store system is a bridge for businesses to consume Vietnamese goods. Therefore, in the coming time, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade will accompany retail businesses in developing modern commercial infrastructure such as supermarkets and convenience stores; Focus on calling for and supporting businesses to build, operate and develop retail systems.

The stockbiz.vn news aggregator reported: " The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes to adjust mineral planning in a shortened order."
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just sent a document to the Prime Minister requesting permission to adjust the Mineral Planning in a shortened order after 46/63 provinces and cities simultaneously reported many difficulties in the actual implementation process, including Lam Dong province. The conflicts between the mineral planning and other planning according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade have caused many projects and works to face difficulties in implementation, affecting the socio-economic development of the locality.
The contradiction between the Mineral Planning and national-level planning such as land use planning, forestry, energy, etc. Since the total land use target has been specifically allocated by the National Assembly and the Government, when the Mineral Planning encroaches on other types of land, the locality cannot implement the project in accordance with the law. In light of the above situation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to adjust the planning according to the simplified procedure prescribed in Article 54a of the 2017 Planning Law, supplemented by Law 57/2024/QH15, to save time and comply with the technical nature of national sectoral planning.
