Good news for those waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S27.

Samsung is considering changing the layout of the rear camera cluster on its Galaxy phone lineup, possibly starting with the Galaxy S27 early next year.

Samsung's design change is the first sign that the vertical triple-camera layout, which is becoming increasingly monotonous on the Galaxy brand, will be replaced with a new style.

Specific details about the new design direction have not been confirmed. Leaks only indicate that Samsung is considering changing the camera placement or completely redesigning the layout, without specifying the exact approach. If implemented, the new design could first appear on the Galaxy S27 series early next year, and then be applied to mid-range lines such as the Galaxy A.

This move isn't entirely unexpected. With the Galaxy S26, Samsung unified the design language across its flagship line by applying the same bezel style and camera module to all versions. Extending a similar change to the A series seems like a suitable approach to synchronize product recognition.

Interestingly, this change comes as Apple has also redesigned the camera on the iPhone 17 Pro, with a noticeably larger, raised rectangular module on the back. Some users have joked that Samsung might copy this design, although that's unlikely. More realistic options include a horizontal camera module like the Google Pixel or a circular design like on some flagships such as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

Besides the camera layout, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is also rumored to receive significant camera hardware upgrades. Leaked information from Ice Universe suggests the device may use the new ISOCELL HP6 main sensor, while another report from ETNews claims the sensor could be 1/1.12-inch in size with LOFIC technology, improving photography in high-contrast lighting conditions.
