According to Mr. Hiep, the department has not yet received any applications for registration to film in An Giang province, such as the aforementioned film project. The agency also does not have the authority to grant film production licenses, and the province has not yet received any information related to the project, nor has it had access to the film's content.

According to the Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of An Giang province, Mount Cam is not only a geographical location but also has cultural significance, being a heritage of the region that needs to be protected.

Therefore, the Board of Directors of the Department of Culture and Sports of An Giang province has requested the relevant department to urgently review and investigate further, and report immediately. If there are any legal issues, the Department will provide its opinion, report, and seek guidance from the Provincial People's Committee.

Previously, social media was flooded with images of the filming commencement ceremony for a film project titled "The Murder at Mount Cam".

Immediately, a wave of fierce protests erupted on major social media platforms, along with thousands of comments from local residents.

Many argue that associating the phrase "murder" with Mount Cam – a sacred site and a typical spiritual tourism destination in An Giang – is offensive, easily misinterpreted, and negatively impacts the local image.

Reportedly, the first people to post information and images about the filming commencement of the "Mount Cam Murder Case" project on their personal pages were a director and another actor. Subsequently, several social media sites shared this content.

Regarding the incident, on the evening of January 11th, 89s Group - the film's production company - issued a statement. According to 89s Group, "The Forbidden Mountain Murder Case" is currently only a temporary title for the project, used internally and not the official title.

89s Group emphasized that the film's content is fictional and not based on any real events, real people, or specific real-life locations. The filming location for the project is also not Mount Cam - An Giang, but a different place.

The film production team apologizes for capitalizing the words "forbidden mountain" in the title, causing an unnecessary misunderstanding. In the future, the film crew will consider and adjust the title to be more appropriate, respecting the local culture and geography, and avoiding misunderstandings.
