After "Fat Bee and Skinny Bee" and "King of the Ducks in Ho Village ," writer Uong Trieu returns to children's literature with the fairy tale "Black Dog and Striped Cat ." The setting of the work remains Ho Village, a peaceful rural village where people are in harmony with nature, and children grow up innocent and pure with many interesting little friends.

Friendship grows from differences.

The main characters of the story are Black Dog and Tabby Cat. These two friends have contrasting personalities. Black Dog is a carefree, mischievous dog, always curious about his new home. Tabby Cat, on the other hand, is like a stylish little girl with a somewhat haughty personality. Every day, Tabby enjoys sunbathing in the yard, leisurely licking her smooth fur.

In his new home, Black Dog had already committed many outrageous acts, such as teasing "Clumsy" Goose, picking fights with Tabby Cat, and even trying to bite Red Toad. After being reprimanded by his owner, Black Dog realized his mistakes and for the first time understood that he needed to be more "grown-up."

From a playful dog who loved to tease his friends, Mực teamed up with Mướp to catch the cunning mice that lurked around the garden. From disliking each other, the two little friends became allies and worked together very well.

But that wasn't all; Black Dog and Tabby Cat, along with Uncle Ngan and Brother Rooster, joined forces to fight the ferocious Cobra. Unable to bear watching the Cobra wreak havoc, the four friends fought side-by-side against this dangerous enemy. After this victory, Black Dog realized the power of unity; when everyone works together, they all become stronger and can easily overcome difficulties.

Black Dog's heroic deeds didn't end there. He bravely confronted the Weasel. With a heart full of love, Black Dog used his compassion to comfort Wild Dog, hoping that after his suffering, his poor friend would regain his faith in life. The encounter with Wild Dog made Black Dog realize how fortunate he was to live in the love of others.

Black Dog's greatest achievement was bravely fighting off thieves and protecting the peace of Ho village. In his time of need, Black Dog was deeply moved by the fact that his good friends, like his owner and Striped Cat, stayed by his side, caring for him and worrying about him during his life-or-death situation.

A beautiful story about friendship and courage.

Writer Uong Trieu shared: He was born and raised in the countryside, where small animals like dogs, cats, geese, hens, and Muscovy ducks were his closest companions when he was a child. His childhood and that of his peers were innocent years, immersed in nature, playing in the forest, frolicking in the garden, or in the windy fields.

Back then, children could spend hours playing with the puppies and kittens their parents kept to guard the house and catch mice. Dogs and cats were indispensable companions for families in the countryside. Living with these small animals, children also learned to love and protect their weaker, more vulnerable friends. Life would naturally teach children meaningful lessons in these simple ways.

The author aims to recreate their own innocent and mischievous childhood through witty and humanistic fables. This is also a way for the writer to preserve memories and recount the stories their generation experienced to young readers.

With his keen observation skills and rich, vivid descriptive language, writer Wang Chao has created the image of a mischievous but courageous and righteous black dog. Alongside him is a stylish, well-groomed tabby cat who is kind and caring towards her friends.

The coming-of-age journey of the two characters, Black Dog and Striped Cat, in the story is like the process of children growing up. There are stumbles, mistakes, and naivety, but after all, children receive valuable lessons and abundant love. From this, the children realize that they are very different from yesterday. Tomorrow, they will be even more mature.

The characteristic actions of familiar domestic animals in the countryside such as dogs, cats, ducks, hens, etc., are also vividly and realistically described by the author in the work. The simple rural landscape of the central highlands with tiled houses, brick courtyards, and chicken coops in the garden corners of many decades ago is quite completely recreated in * Black Dog and Striped Cat *.

Through a natural and engaging storytelling style, author Wang Chao conveys many valuable lessons to young readers in this work. These lessons, sparkling with love, are interwoven into situations that are both dramatic and humorous, sometimes even touching, helping children absorb beneficial values in a truly natural way.
