At Quang Binh University, the atmosphere of scientific research among students in recent years has become vibrant and highly applied. One of the outstanding topics for the 2024-2025 academic year was "Emotion Recognition using Artificial Intelligence in Administrative Reform," which won first prize at the university-wide student scientific research conference.

Dr. Dau Manh Hoan, Head of the Information Technology Department, shared: “The project aims to serve the digital literacy of the people and administrative reform, which are priority areas in the newly formed province. As Quang Tri province is newly established, each official will shoulder more responsibilities, and artificial intelligence tools will help them work more efficiently.”

From a student's perspective, Mai Vu Bao Long, the research team leader, also expressed: "We hope that the platforms we have built can be piloted at community learning centers or public administrative service centers in border communes and disadvantaged communes, where people are most easily reached. That is how technology can truly reach the grassroots."

With their intelligence, creativity, and passion, young people have quickly adapted to societal changes. They have started building inspiring TikTok channels, featuring content showcasing destinations, stories about people, and the culture of different regions.

These small beginnings are a positive sign that young people are not indifferent to big issues. On the contrary, they proactively engage with reality, experiment with new things, and even take risks to find their own path.

Vo Vinh Tu, a student from Vo Nguyen Giap Specialized High School (Dong Hoi ward), shared: “I think the merger is a major turning point. Besides the ‘kingdom of caves,’ the new province will also include Khe Sanh, the Ancient Citadel, and the banks of Hien Luong - Ben Hai... I believe the new Quang Tri province will make good use of both its natural and historical resources, leading to sustainable tourism development.”

In this wave of transformation, many businesses have proactively sought suitable paths to both adapt and spread their values. Amazing English Tour (AET) is a pioneer in the field of educational tourism combining English language experiences for students. With itineraries spanning all three regions of Vietnam and expanding internationally, AET has taken students to new lands, contributing to the formation of a global citizen spirit in the younger generation.

Sharing her vision for the future, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Oanh, Director of AET, said: “We see the merger as an opportunity to expand our market and strengthen connections. AET hopes to collaborate with the newly established Quang Tri Provincial Department of Education and Training and schools to bring educational tourism models closer to students throughout the province. This is both a development strategy and a way for us to contribute to nurturing a generation that loves their homeland through experience and language.”

Believe in the future

Nguyen Minh Dinh Thien, a 12th-grade student at Dong Ha High School, is preparing to enter university in Ho Chi Minh City. Born and raised in Dong Ha, Thien's ancestral home is in Hoa Thuy commune, Le Thuy district (formerly Quang Binh province). Thien shared: “When Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces became one, I felt it was a complete connection between the two parts of my homeland. For me, the new province is not just an administrative name, it's also a shared home for a new generation.”

In Rum Ho village (Kim Ngan commune), Ms. Ho Thi Son, a Bru-Van Kieu ethnic woman, has renovated her wooden house into a homestay amidst the vast forest. Without flashy advertising or luxury amenities, Ms. Son's homestay still attracts many tourists because of its sincerity and uniqueness. Ms. Son shared: "I only hope the province will provide more infrastructure support, open vocational training classes, and teach the language to our children and grandchildren so they can learn about tourism. So that young people can stay in the village and still make a living from tourism."

Accompanying the local people are young entrepreneurs like Mr. Tran Xuan Cuong, Director of Netin Travel Company. He and his colleagues have collaborated with the Helvetas Organization to organize training, provide homestay consulting, and promote community tourism products through digital platforms. Recently, he has also actively connected tours from Phong Nha to Dong Chau - Khe Nuoc Trong - Huong Hoa, forming a community tourism route spanning the two provinces. “If the newly established province has a synchronized policy, we will reduce the bureaucratic procedures, and tourism linkages will be smoother. This is an opportunity for community tourism to no longer be just a ‘model,’ but a real livelihood sector,” the Director of Netin Travel hopes.

Over the past period, the Huong Hoa Tourism Association (Quang Tri province) has collaborated with many international organizations to support local Pa Ko and Van Kieu youth groups in developing ecotourism models under the forest canopy, while also building an image for the local media team, enabling young people in the border region to tell their stories in their own voices.

Mr. Tran Thai Thien, Chairman of the Huong Hoa Tourism Association, affirmed: “Khe Sanh has its own unique identity and great potential. The merger opens up opportunities to link localities from the former Bo Trach district to the former Dakrong district, from Ta Puong waterfall to Ta Con airport. We want to transform the border region into a continuous tourism route both domestically and across Laos.”

The new provincial landscape is gradually being painted with the vibrant colors of the younger generation. They are quietly demonstrating their generational responsibility through concrete actions, preserving culture, connecting with technology, restoring identity, and igniting a new vitality. The new province will not just be a place name on the administrative map, but a land where young people raise their voices and work together to build from the roots.
