In late May, in many fields across Nghe An province, farmers are entering the spring rice harvest season. This is also a period of unpredictable weather, with prolonged periods of intense heat interspersed with sudden thunderstorms, putting many ripe rice fields at risk of lodging and affecting yields.

In response to this situation, the armed forces in many localities mobilized officers and soldiers to go to the fields to support the people, especially single-parent households, families receiving preferential treatment, and households with difficult circumstances, in harvesting their crops.

My family is small and I'm also ill, so I was very worried that the rice would spoil if it ripened too early. My family is deeply moved by the help from the officers and soldiers. Thank you so much!

Mr. Lang Van Chuyen, Muong Quang commune

From early morning, officers and soldiers from the Mường Quàng Commune Military Command, the Mường Quàng Commune Police, and local militia forces were present in the Mòng village fields to help Mr. Lang Văn Chuyên's family harvest their rice. Mr. Chuyên's family is small, and he himself is frequently ill, so they face many difficulties during the harvest season.

Amidst the sweltering heat of early summer, the officers and soldiers quickly divided into groups to cut, gather, and transport the rice stalks ashore. On the golden rice fields, bundles of rice were neatly harvested in a hurried atmosphere. Everyone tried to complete their work as quickly as possible to avoid the risk of thunderstorms that could occur at any moment.

Mr. Lang Van Chuyen emotionally shared that his family had been worried for days because the rice was ripe but they didn't have enough manpower to harvest it. "My family is small, and I'm also ill, so I was very worried that the rice would spoil if it ripened too long. We are deeply touched by the help from the officers and soldiers. Thank you so much!" Mr. Chuyen shared.

Not only in Muong Quang, but these days, activities to support people in harvesting rice are being implemented simultaneously in many localities throughout the province. From early morning in the fields of hamlets 3 and 15, officers and staff of the Hung Nguyen Nam Commune Military Command, along with the permanent militia force, have been dividing up the work of harvesting, bundling, and transporting rice to the shore for the family of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phung, a household with particularly difficult circumstances in the locality. Due to his advanced age, frail health, and the need to care for his daughter who suffers from cerebral palsy, the family faces many obstacles in farming, especially when heavy rains occur during the peak rice ripening season.

Besides providing labor, the militia also assisted in transporting and covering rice to protect it from rain, minimizing losses for the people. Major Hoa Quoc Dat, Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Command of Hung Nguyen Nam commune, said that as soon as they learned about the family's circumstances and the complicated weather conditions, the unit mobilized forces to assist the people in harvesting their rice.

Police officers and soldiers of Muong Quang commune help people harvest rice.

Along with the military, many commune police units in the area also actively participated in helping people harvest rice. In Nghia Khanh commune, after a storm with strong winds caused many rice fields to be flattened, the commune police quickly mobilized officers and soldiers to go to the fields to support the people.

The family of Ms. Le Thi Thom in Duc Trung hamlet is one of the households that received timely support. Her children are all working far away, leaving only the elderly couple at home, making rice harvesting difficult. After the recent heavy rain, many of the family's rice fields were flattened, and if not harvested soon, it would significantly affect the yield.

Immediately after assessing the situation, the Nghia Khanh commune police dispatched officers to the fields to help Mrs. Thom's family harvest and transport the rice home. From early morning, the police officers worked diligently to harvest each area of flattened rice to minimize losses for the people.

Ms. Le Thi Thom said that thanks to the timely support of the police force, her family has been able to alleviate many difficulties during the harvest season. "The police officers worked very enthusiastically, helping my family harvest rice from early morning. Without their support, we would have struggled a lot," Ms. Thom said.

Militia forces in Hung Nguyen Nam commune help disadvantaged families harvest and transport rice during the harvest season.

Over the years, assisting people with the harvest has become a regular activity of the armed forces in Nghe An province whenever the harvest season arrives. These practical activities not only help people overcome difficulties caused by unfavorable weather conditions, but also contribute to strengthening the close relationship between the military and the people.

In reality, the armed forces' mass mobilization work is not limited to propaganda and persuasion, but is also concretized through practical actions closely related to the lives of the people. From supporting production and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters to helping people build new rural areas, the armed forces are always present promptly wherever the people need them.

Through these activities, the people gain more trust and attachment to the local armed forces. For officers and soldiers, this is also an opportunity to better understand the lives, thoughts, and difficulties of farmers, thereby enhancing their sense of responsibility in performing their duties.

Amidst the golden harvest season in the rice fields of Nghe An, the image of officers, soldiers, and local people harvesting rice under the scorching summer sun continues to be a beautiful sight, further deepening the solidarity between the military and the people in the homeland of Nghe An.
